I just think people who's answers for everything people are going through that revolve around Jesus or God are just off... I believe in God but I don't use him or religion to console others.

That that bothers you says more about you than it does about them. One day you will learn to just do you and stop worrying about everybody else. It's no different than you or me spouting off the benefits of changing your eating habit and getting more exercise, IMO.

Why are they off ? Having a faith in god/jesus may be the only thing these people have in there life that keeps them from crumbling, you dont know there walk, or how there life has been. I dont agree with it been shoved down someones throat if they arent open to it, but I dont see how it hurts you personally if others need it.

In summary then, Dana is saying it bothers him that in his mind that religion/God is used/advised to be used as a 'crutch'.

Whatever the reason for the faith, I see no harm in it if it helps the individual or someone the individual is helping.

In a non faith contextual way, it could be used as any other piece of advice that may help someone get through a situation/troubling period in their life.
