if i hold a photography contest?

No tokenz? What is the point?

well as i said before, originally they were a fun thing with nothing at stake except if you won you could say you've won......i feel that recently with alot of tokenz at stake its became a bit too serious and members with(and i dont mean this disrespectfully)more basic equipment weren't bothering...what i want is to get it back to what it was, with the more passionate photographers amongst us joining in and encouraging beginners or fun photographers...and that includes you amongst the passionate

and some of the more (and I dont mean this disrespectfully) "professional" ones got their knickers in a twist if us "amateurs' didnt vote for them or questioned the technique.:)

There's nothing wrong with questioning a technique but when someone makes an outright insinuation regarding photo manipulation without knowing what they are talking about... ya.. I get my nose out of joint.

With reference to Ians answer to Tuffy re the tokenz. There's been some fairly shitty pics that have won some tokenz so that blows a hole in that theory.

Guyz!:( Its all a matter of opinion

I can remember in the last comp...I commented that to me, the water didnt look quite real...I didnt know you HAD to know what you were talking about to be allowed to make an OBSERVATION...:dunno

Thats why I rarely enter these things......too many take it WAY too seriously;)

Ian I have been giving something some serious thought for quite a long time and I'm going to throw the idea out. I don't want to be a stcik in the mud or steal your thunder but have you ever considered a " Photo Challenge" ? A theme is chosen by way of a poll of some sort. The photographer has to go out and shoot it. No digging something out of a vault, it's got to be a shot taken once the theme is announced. It doesn't have to be something difficult like a bird in flight, macro etc because most people do not have the equipment to do it. By keeping it fairly simple it opens it up to anyone with a camera, even a cell phone camera. If anyone really wants to learn that's the way to do it. Something else to throw in the mix. After the winner(s) is announced all the people that voted have to say why they chose the one they did. No critiquing, just comments on why they liked the shot. The purpose of that would be to make both the photographer and person that voted actually think about the what's, why's etc.

And some not seriously enough. That said... I've never taken it seriously. I won't go into a long explanation as to why because it would just piss you off even more and I still love you so there.

See my most recent post above. Maybe that will make some sense... maybe it won't.

Anywhoo... Mrs.Guyzerr has been pretty good lately so I'm gunna take her out for supper to may favorite Italian joint. See you soon Cammy Poo.
