If God had a father, would He be ashamed of his Son?

Just to make sure you understand the premise. I am asking that we consider a Grand Father to Jesus type of God the Father who would be father to God the Father.

Grandfather God the father to God the father of Son/Jesus.

Son, look what you have wrought?
I gave you a perfect start and universe to mold to a more perfect state and you have let it deteriorate to where most people see imperfection.
What have you done to our family name for God’s sake?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dx7irFN2gdI

Couple that with the fact that God has been labeled, with evidence, as jealous and proud of it, a petty tyrant, unjust, unforgiving, immoral, a control freak, racist, sexist, chauvinistic, vindictive, ethnic cleanser, misogynistic, homophobic, infanticide, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniac and other undesirable character traits and one could build a case that says that God is a God sized A hole.

To me, one of his most disturbing traits is being a total coward by not having the balls to step up himself for the hard task of sacrifice, but instead, sending his young son to die in his stead. Any mother or father would be more responsible than this in our human culture. Most of us believe that we are to bury our fathers and are incensed with the thought of burying our sons.

Take a bow human mothers and fathers and denounce the genocidal coward we call God.

If not, why do you support his religion and promote his policies. That is insane as the women shown in this clip and her husband who sits back and let’s her.

I can appreciate the benefits of faith, spirituality and religiosity and recognize the good churches bring to community but surely to God, we should only support churches that preach a common good and not the exclusionary churches who preach the God described above.

People are beginning to change but to me, not quickly enough. Here is an example of inclusive churches against exclusive churches who discriminate without just cause.

"First they came for the Jews, but I did nothing because I'm not a Jew. Then they came for the socialists, but I did nothing because I'm not a socialist. Then they came for the Catholics, but I did nothing because I'm not a Catholic. Finally, they came for me, but by then there was no one left to help me." – Pastor Father Niemoller (1946)

If you were God’s father, would you be proud of your son?

This questions requires a far greater understanding of any being that could have created the universe than we actually have. We don't even really know 'why we're here' so we can hardly effectively analyse whether 'God' did a good job, since we have no way of knowing his motivations, hopes, or if 'he' even has emotions that could be interpreted on that spectrum.

I cannot believe that you cannot give a clear and simple yes or no.

Do you like what you see on earth as you look about. Is the universe as perfect and pristine as in the beginning.

Our usual God the father said he was well pleased with Jesus. That is pride.

Are you saying God the father sinned?

DL

"let he who is without sin cast the first stone"

I guess it depends on "who" really thinks pride is a sin....God, or the people who "wrote" the Bible.
I personally see no sin in being proud.

Like I said, I don't believe even if there is a creator, that we have the ability to comprehend it's existence properly.

Since we weren't around when the universe was created, how can we possibly say it's worse now? For a start, this entire theory seems to be based on the state the Earth is in. Well, the universe isn't just about us. There's millions of solar systems out there, why should the current condition of our single planet affect the condition of the entire universe? For all we know, every other planet out there is working out as planned and we're just an anomaly. It's rather self-centred of the human race to assume that WE must be the reason behind EVERYTHING.

Also, considering that our particular solar system probably started in an explosion, things were hardly 'perfect and pristine'.

very good points there HK.

The Earth and our solar system were born out of a collapsing star. Hardly pristine in any way, shape or fashion. There is constant and immense destruction throughout the universe, the likes of which puts the wrath of Earth gods to shame.

So Ed, you say our solar system was born out of a collapsing star, how was that collapsing star there in the first place, something you don't want to think about isn't it? And yet somehow you say that you're not narrowminded, oh hum

I think the point is not about how these things got there, but the fact that GIA is saying 'everything was perfect at first' when that obviously wasn't the case for quite a long time before we came along.

The problem is with you, you just speculate on something that is totally irrelevant

I couldn't even be bothered if God had a father who was "ashamed" of him, even if he did have a father, I am sure he would of been proud of his son, that he created men and women alike, and space.

After all, you claim that he preached hatred to the masses, yet time and time again you fail to mention that he even commands us to love our neighbour, and yet God's son clarifies who is our neighbour

You're always putting words in my mouth, aren't you?

Actually, I'm very interested in that. And that collapsing star came out of the big bang. But I cannot logically just jump to a supernatural answer for something that science can explain, because that is the epitome of a cop-out.

Why don't you actually question where these things came from? Perhaps then you might find yourself an open mind.

Sorry, I fail to understand where I put words into your mouth, can you show me where?

you said I don't want to think about something I actually think about an awful lot:

how was that collapsing star there in the first place, something you don't want to think about isn't it?

Ok, not so much words but implying a behaviour, one that's completely and utterly false and has no grounding in reality. Kind of like your God, really.

This all makes me laugh though - you think we don't think about this stuff because we don't believe in the make-believe sky-father? :24:

too funny! It's called science, and many of us have more than a passing interest in it.

Sorry, but all science is speculation, OK, some of their speculations are right but not all, remember a planet/non-planet called Pluto, oh you conveniently forgot about that, fail big time, huh?

No science is not speculation. That's a complete misunderstanding of science. Science is best summed up as:

"closer and closer approximations of how things really are"

Confirmed observations, testable hypothesis. Stuff isn't just made up or speculated, it's just our knowledge expands constantly.

So in the case of Pluto, it's actually still under debate as to whether or not it's a planet. This is because we've only been able to get better information about it in the recent years. It's not like we can just jump in a ship and head there to check.

It was called a planet when we could just make it out in the cosmos. Now, as our knowledge and ability to observe has improved, we can take a much better look.

When you're dealing with the vast, vast distances in Space, new information comes more apparent as viewing techniques improve.

Look at it this way: every single thing that makes your life better is a result of science. Your computer, that's just speculation, right? Your camera? Your phone? These are the results of scientific inquiry.

Stop boring me, you don't know anything, it is speculation. Correct the debate about Pluto is still under debate meaning they are still speculating about it

so because of that ALL science is speculation? You're talking about a VERY small part of cosmology here. And local cosmology at that.

really, you need to look into the scientific method. If you think all science is speculation you are very, very misinformed.
