Well that would make sense if I had a clue that you were one in a billion that has a water heater in the attic :D

Oops I should have remembered you southerners do some weird stuff.

Up north you would avoid at all costs putting any piping in an attic let alone a water heater due to freezing.

What we have here is a cultural divide it appears :D

me too

noises make sense but the attic did not

up north it is not the norm to run any piping thru an attic

Had it not been for the noise with the pipes I would not known anything was wrong until I turned on the faucet. I think we are fixed up now. I have to go out in the rain now and bury the line.

That's another cultural divide as AA put it. Our water lines are buried at least 42" so cutting one is near impossible unless you are using heavy equipment.

The pipes enter the house in front of the window at my work desk. They rise up into the attic where the water heater is located. The change in water pressure made the pipes rattle which sounded like something falling.
ooooooOOOOooh ok got it now. Thats odd, water in the attic.

Did he fix it or did you have too?

Now the hits just keep coming. Enough dirt got through the joint to kill the valve on my ice maker on my refrigerator. There's another $100.

im in the south an I thought it was weird the water heater being in the attic
I mean practically you want the water heater
somewhere that if there is an issue with it like leaking or exploding you would not damage the rest of the house
most people have them either in the garage or behind a panel in a storage room like closet or pantry and they put them right next to the outside wall

I was thinking the same thing about why did it make a noise in your attic lol

I think the waterheater is in the attic is an afterthought. They did not address it until it was too late.

you sure on that?

maybe the dirt is sticking the solenoid?

I would remove it and flush it and shake the crap out of it

or just try tapping it in place to see if it will free up.

Also you could check and see if there is a filter before the refrigerator. Sometimes they are installed as a protection against crap getting into the icemaker
