If you had swine flu, you would be bed ridden with absolutely no energy to sit up, let alone type on a keyboard. Your mind wouldn't have the energy to think much either. Its more likely you just have a virus

i say this because two of the four students next door caught it and were prescribed Tamiflu as a result, and thats what there state was. Generally if your able to phone our NHS helpline and ask for some, you probably won't have it

Get well soon nehoo ^_^

Just because you know two people with symptoms like that, does not mean everyone who has H1N1 is affected that way. I know two people as well who have had confirmed cases and both of them described it as "barely sick." They stayed home to avoid spreading it, but both said they've had much more severe cases of flu in the past and were surprised how mild this was.

The CDC also has repeatedly reported that the sympoms of H1N1 were no different than any other flu strain.

Do you have or did you have a fever?
I think thats the biggest thing with H1N1 the fever followed byt he respiratory.
My daughter had something last week ran a fever of 103 for a few days but treated it with tylenol and motrin. We took her to the clinic because I was worried about H1N1 and they said she sounded and looked fine but sent her home with an antibiotic and we had to keep her out of school the week, they never ran any tests though. Weird part is she felt fine other than that hihg temp. She was eating and running around still.

Not true at all. We have almost no immunity built up to it. The regular flu strain has been around for a while, so we have all been exposed, and we all have some immunity to it. But the swine flu is new and so if we are exposed to it, we have no immunity, and it is likely we will get sick.

it's not new, H1M1 has been around before.

Ya I've had a fever since yesterday. My normal body temp is slightly below normal, usually around 97 degrees and I've been at 100 degrees since I first started feeling sick.

And I hardly do have energy to situp and type, but it gets incredibly boring laying down and staring at the tv all day. And when I stay in the same position, certain body parts get more sore. I left the house last night and drove down to 7-11 with my mom and I thought walking around was going to kill me!

the flu is a new strain every year, thats why we get a flu shot

It's not a "new" strain, seasonal flu occurs annually and characteristics of strains can vary from year to year, which is why there is a different flu vaccine developed each year to combat seasonal flu. But they aren't entirely new strains. They just change a little bit.

H1N1 is described as a "Novel Virus" meaning the human immune system has never experienced it before.

For goodness sakes!!! Why would you go out and expose other people to your illness?

Because there are more chances of it being swine flu, since I have no immunity built up to it. And it's been sweeping through my school.
Without it actually being confirmed by way of a test you don't have any idea what you have. It probably sounds more dramatic when you say you " have H1N1 though ". ;)

There's no reason to get tested, all they will do is making me walk into an office, swab my nose, tell me I have it, and go home and keep doing what I'm doing unless the symptoms become more serious.

Right now I have 7 out of the 8 symptoms of a disease that is rapidly spreading through our school. And I know I came in contact with a girl who had H1N1 a day before I got sick, who was in the office checking out as I was checking in.

I know about a dozen or so folks that have been hit by H1N1, all confirmed , and most have been off work ( where I work ) for the better part of two weeks. The others... about a week so far. I don't know a single person that would describe themselves as being " barely sick ". It's pretty much landed them on their back with a hell of a lot of respiratory congestion among other things. One person, a pregnant gal in her late 20's with about 12 weeks to go landed in the hospital last weekend. Apparently the baby wasn't doing very well. She was released after about 4 days. She's still quite sick according to her husband but at least her and baby are doing ok.

always helps to complain about it too, well for me anyway :p
Me too. Mrs. Guyzerr does the " help Mr.Guyzerr get better stuff " real good.
** sniff...sniff... achoooooooooo ** She fired up a bowl of Clam Chowder for me today cuz I still have a bit of a cold and not a unconfirmed case of H1N1. If I had H1N1 I could probably convince her to whip me up some supper but such is not to be so I'm taking her out for supper. She wins again. :mad

I seriously doubt that everyone who gets swine flu can't get up and move around. That doesn't sound 'mild'

So far, most swine flu cases have been mild, with symptoms similar to those of seasonal flu. Only a small number of people have had more serious symptoms.
If you or a member of your family has a fever or high temperature (over 38°C/100.4°F) and two or more of the following symptoms, you may have swine flu:

  • unusual tiredness,
  • headache,
  • runny nose,
  • sore throat,
  • shortness of breath or cough,
  • loss of appetite,
  • aching muscles,
  • diarrhoea or vomiting.

manditory week off at my job if you get in minimum!
They posted signs at my work as well as had a bit of a staff meeting about that very issue. I asked them who was going to pay our bills while we were off and I didn't get a verbal answer. I wonder why.... In any event when I got a cold two weeks ago not one mgmt. type came up to me and axed whet kind of " sick " I was. I took that as their answer.

My shyster ( sister ) got the non-H1N1 version of the flu three weeks ago and they forced her to work from home until 1 week after her last symptom which means she was back at work this week.
