I went and spent some money today on my car.
I'm a paranoid person. As any car guy will tell you. When you hear strange clicks or any noises in your car it makes you paranoid about your baby. Right?
I would hear some occasional noises and feel some vibrations every now and then. Dunno what they are, but they're there.
So I took my car into Honda today for some preventative maintenance. I have 68,990 miles on the car. That's 30k in almost two years, thanks to delivering pizzas for a year and a half. Yet, I've yet to have a major engine problem at all.
I had my timing belt replaced, and since they came in a package I had the serpentine belts replaced. I did not want to have a repeat of what happened on my escort at 90k miles - timing belt snapped, valves supposedly bent, head needed reground. 2 grand later and it ran better.
I also had a 4 wheel alignment. MY GOD the car rides just that little extra bit better... like it's on rails. The slightest movement in the wheel will cause the car to swerve more abruptly than it did before... I like that. Steering on this car is A+ IMO.
I wanted to have my CV joints checked. I didn't want a bad CV to cause a major failure while driving it. I get back to the dealer and they told me that the CV joints looked almost perfect. no rips, no tears, nothing. On any of them. I was amazed, it made me smile ear to ear to know that I bought a car that can have the crap kicked out of it with racing, 100 mph trips down the highway, sudden stops, and nothing breaks.
I had my oil changed - I was only 11grand over my last oil change. only. :tard
In short - I absolutely love this car. There is nothing about this car that I would change, except that I wish it was a 6 speed.
Loves:
handling, damn near indestructable parts, awesome reliability, low cost of maintenance... I only spent 273 on all this... and that was from the dealer. Gas mileage.
Hates:
I dunno, short gearing causes higher speed high RPM operation. I wish Honda had made a 6 speed that was compatible with the B series engines. I would have swapped that at the first chance.
