I Love Badgers!

I used to see badgers in the woods behind my house all the time but they've been a bit MIA the past year or so. I think they've moved down the road to the nature reserve: some tramp left a tentful of porn there for them to look at. My wood is just overrun with foxes, pheasants and bats and the occasional glis glis.

I've only seen one in the wild and that was about 40 years ago. He dug a hole up through the pavement of a highway. Them buggers are nasty tough.

It's also known as The Edible Dormouse http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edible_dormouse

They were accidently introduced into The Chiltern area and are now a protected species. They get into people's attics and by law, they can't be killed in certain ways and have to be carefully removed.

I'd love to see one of those, used to get them around when I lived on the edge of the Chilterns but never saw one. Bit like a slightly small grey squirrel, right?

Yeah everyone I know who has seen one said it looked like a squirrel but the problem is, most people in the Chiltern area have NEVER heard of the glis glis so they mistake them for squirrels or rats and it's only when they call in pest control that they find out.

we don't have those here... just groundhogs and raccoons oh and squirrels LOL
Dana you have badgers there. Unfortunately they are very sly and keep a low profile therefore are hard to see / spot in most cases.

" Badgers live in North America and Canada in Saskatchewan. In North America they live in Maine, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and some parts out west.
