I just spoke to my Mother.

My sister and her live in a mobile home. They were in a shelter when the storms hit. Last night they mentioned her community as being one of the areas hit badly by the storms. Her home is fine but they are without power. Homes were destroyed North & West of her.

I thought I might be headed over there because she lives almost a mile down a dirt road. When we had the tornado outbreak in 1974 we spent almost three days clearing trees many of which were across the road. This is the worst outbreak I remember here since that one.

I'm glad she's ok given the nature of the storms, that she lives in a mobile home and that quite a few have lost their lives already.

Glad to hear that your Mom is okay, we got tornado warnings up here in NJ! My office is virtuallly in a basement and I have no windows, so I'm staying here for now , my boss just called me a wuss

I am not a fan of tornadoes. I have seen quite a few and rode out one in a mobile home. They are scary the damage they can reap. We had one hit here a couple of years ago. It destroyed over 100 homes and parts of two shopping centers and several free standing businesses. It was estimated it was only on the ground about 45 secondes. I watched on TV last night one tornado in Tuscaloosa and one in Birmingham that were on the ground well beyond 5 minutes apiece. Scary huge 1/2 to 1 mile wide.

I am glad to hear that your mom and sis are doing well. Hope they find lots of survivors after that big destruction. Prayers sent......
