You gotta be as ruthless as the people you are bidding against.
Don't bid until the absolute last minute. When you bid, bid the absolute highest you are willing to bid too.
If they have bid and your bid out bids them .. they'll have to figure out what the top bid is. That takes time .. usually by the time they figure it out .. you've won (unless the bid goes higher than you were willing to go).
Never put a small bid .. always bid higher, and always bid late. Don't let them know someone is interested. If they know someone is interested they'll keep a closer eye on the auction. If no one bids, they usually think no one is interested .. NEVER THINK THAT.
