I made sure I didn't consume caffeine for a few hours before I went to bed. I go to bed at 10:30 wake up at 1:30 to pee and I cannot fall back asleep.

By going to pee I assume you turn your bathroom light on whilst doing it, meaning this is easily explained. Your brain thinks it's morning when you turn the bathroom light on so it's hard to get back to sleep.

Heard of that theory.

l use a very dim nite light instead of the big overhead one.

Do you wake up for other reasons often? Or is it just to pee? If you didn't have to pee would you sleep right through the night? If this is the case. Try not drinking anything after 7pm and make sure you empty you bladder best you can before you go to bed. Getting up and walking to the bathroom is mental stimulation at a time when it is suppose to be shut down.

Going through the same thing. Even had a sleep apnea test done, stopped caffeine all together even. I go to bed at 10:00 and by midnight or there after I am awake and can't go back to sleep. Makes it a long night just laying there. Can't make it through the day and end up sleeping during the day.

I get up in the night to pee, switch lights on and still manage to fall back asleep without bother. The only time I have trouble is if its after 7am.

maybe you got up for a different reason other than to "pee" your mind will allow you to sleep again once you have sorted it out

So this was on Labor Day Monday.

Had you stayed up late both days prior ? Up late Friday until say oh 1 am and also up late till 2 am on Saturday.. Maybe even up late on Sunday ?

Perhaps a bit of history ( background ) would help us in assisting you.

If you start to set up a new pattern as in a few days of staying up late, it can cause this type of sleep problem..

Just a suggestion..

It used to take me two hours at night to get to sleep usually. But since being put on psych meds back in 2000, I haven't had nearly as much trouble falling asleep.
