I had my wife in tears....

Her uncle came to visit and brought a friend with him. His friend was one of the most talkative men I have ever met and I could not get a way from him. I was describing this to my wife and she started laughing until she was in tears.:24::24:

One of my mom's bestfriends has a husband that is like that. I hate hate HATE when she brings him w/ her b/c he monopolizes the conversation and just wants to talk about my job. *rolls eyes*

I have been prone to extreme embellishment when it suited my purpose. She and I were both in tears as I was laughing at the entire thing. I swear I know more about this stranger after a half hour than I know of some of my relatives I have known 50 years.

Makes me think of the Bette Midler character in Beaches when she says after talking about herself a lot then turns to her friend and says, "But enough about me, what do you think about me?"

I learned in short order about his siblings, his health, what his sister does. Just on and on and on like a 3 year old. So much to say and just learning to talk well.

I've been working occasionally with someone like that for the last 6 months.

Her first day on the job, we knew every damn thing about her by the end of the day.

What kills me is when people like this speak of their relatives and friends to you on a first name basis, as though you know them personally yourself.

We have a guy, just like that, who works out of the other end of the same building we do. Afternoon coffee breaks can't get over soon enough. Trouble is, he's got competition from my supervisor and one of the guys from the water dept. who take their break with us too. I just zone 'em all out and surf the web on my phone. :surrender
