Well, not talking about all Protestantism, but over here in the UK it only become Gods religion because the king wanted a divorce. On that basis, I really see no reason to believe that it does any good or has any validity, just my opinion anyway.:)
thats a really basic view of tudor history.
the pope at the time was politicing with the medici clan and was imprisonned for at time ,hence it took years for henry's answer.
if theyd had forums them like this then the debate would have been about the rise of protestantism .
henry, anne boleyn.edward.elizabeth all wrote books on the subject.

jane grey ,in simple history term was queen for 9 days..she was beheaded at age 16.mary 1 wouldnt have beheaded her and she would have been released if she had denied her protestant belief that bread and wine were not the actual body of christ.she wouldnt and gave her life for her belief that bread and wine were symbolic.

always more to it than gcse history notes

you cant marry in a church if your not baptized
i actually think thats right and proper,if you arent a christain why do you want to have god involved in your marriage vows, just a civil type ceremony is more appropriate.

i was christened as a baby, oct 1960,no one consulted me on this ,and it was just the done thing then..when i came to faith it was important to stand up and tell everyone a,but because i was christened i couldnt be baptised,
i opted to do the next level thing which was to be affirmed in front of my friends and family(more pagans than a stonehenge festival were there)

i then did a course to decide about and prepare for confirmation ,which i did do and was confirmed by the bishop of shrewsbury..he was ace;)on this occaision my friends and family werent present(just my daughte) as this was a personnal thing.

i think if you come to faith then you wish to be baptised...and have a great party afterwards:D

So..
I am a protestant christian. I believe in the bible. I believe you must be saved in order to go to heaven.. however, I have never been baptized. I dont think its 100% vital that I get baptized in order to go to heaven.

what do you guys think.. must i be baptized to go to heaven? or is being saved enough?
Just to set the record straight - I don't know about you, but until I'm hanging out with the 'Big Man' and He is like - 'Hand me some bread and wine', I'm not actually 'SAVED'. Right now we are just all in the 'process of being saved'. When I actually GET THERE - THEN I WILL BE SAVED/SAFE. ;)

:D

Baptism is more of a "show" to the rest of the members of a church that you have dedicated your life to God. Same as with baptism of children .. it is the parents way of dedicating them to the church and vowing to raise them in a christian home/manner.

If you don't wanna do it, then don't .. it certainly won't/doesn't mean that your salvation isn't complete.

Seeing as the Protestants include the Lutheran's, the Anglican's, the Baptist's...well, basically everyone that considers themselves Christians but not Catholic, there are a variety of specific beliefs out there. The BAptists believe that you can't make an informed decision as a child so you can't be baptised until you're older, or at least old enough to speak for yourself. Most other Christian faiths believe that children should be baptised as soon as possible to cleanse their souls immediately as we are all born with original sin.

Technically, and we'd need an actual theology student to verify this not someone who thinks they know what they're talking about, but technically you can't even consider yourself a Christian if you haven't been baptised as Jesus himself was baptised. It's just a part of the symbology of Christianity. You can beleive in Christ, you can be raised in a Christian household, but if the sacrament of baptism has not been bestowed upon you, you can't claim to be a Christian.

Now, to go back to your question, yes, I do beleive that you can go to heaven if you haven't been baptised, but it's kind of hypocritical, in my opinion since you're asking, to call yourself a Christian, and not be baptised.
