The last 3 companies I worked for all let me go before Christmas: The first company was going out of business and laid me off, but gave me severance through May of the following year(I worked there almost 13 years); the next one went out of business, but kept me there until February to be in charge of dismantling everything and the last one let me go a week and a half before Christmas, but I did qualify for unemployment.
But that's me.
I just wanted to say that it seems that companies do like to take stock of their financial situation in the last quarter of the year, so that's when they start laying off the most people.
