I fell off the wagon

Not the sobriety wagon, I've never been able to get near that thing.

After quitting smoking for four years, I bought a pack yesterday after a shitty week at work and have been nicotinated ever since. It's not a big deal; I'm pretty sure I can quit again. Just kinda pisses me off that I gave in like that.

You ever relapse?

Oh, that's a shame.

I packed up almost 7 years ago - not easy to do, but with patches was a lot easier than I thought (for me anyway).

I didn't feel the need to use the last week's patches & I never have craved a cigarette since.:)

I have been through many many tough, stressful, upsetting times, but still didn't think of having a cigarette or more, thankfully.

I am sorry for you cos I know it's obviously not been easy for you and totally feel for you. :) When I smoked and had stress and other probs, I would just always reach for a cigarette and chain smoke through those times which were pretty often.

I still don't think of having a cigarette - luckily, especially with my respitory probs - they have got so much better since I packed in.

Unfortunately though for me, I put on some weight - not loads, but do need to lose some, so am getting back into exercise soon.

I hope you manage to pack up again and stay that way.

I have heard of people who started smoking again after 3 years, 5 years and ten years of packing up, but not yet heard of anyone who started again after 10 years of packing up - I have reached my 1st goal of packing up and gone beyond that (5 years), am over half way through my next goal now - 10 years of being packed up. :D ;)

Good luck with it.

get a camera and go for long walks like i do:D

Thing is, I walk about 5-6 miles most days of the week.

Also got a camera, but ya know how I am with regards that - I pm'd to you, all about it. LOL :D

However, i ahve a number to get someone to come and show me how to sort things out - first off though, he will be cleaning up my comp - it's a bloody pigsty. :D

Then, after tidy up, am going to get him to show me how to find the pics I put on this flippin' machine, to upload to photobucket, to post - then I can enter the pic comps......Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!! :D ;)

That's tough Dove. After all those years. The temptation because of stress to reach for a stress reliever or comforter is strong.

I smoke too but I've never stopped so I've had no opportunity to relapse so I can't speak for that.

Throughout the years my family have always been at me to quit. So too those at the office when they see me doing or about to have a smoke. I don't take them on. My work is much too stressful for me to want to stop. That's my excuse.

Godd Lord. I have a sister who has done this MANY a time throughout her journey of smoking and quitting.

She ALWAYS has an excuse. "Well, I've been done for 2 months now!!!"

Fast forward to two months later, "Omg, I could not quti smoking now, I'm going through a divorce!!"

LOL with your bad foot. :D

All the best with that....and woe be unto him. He's got his work pretty much cut out. :24:

That's great. I quit cold turkey, and had been really good up until two days ago.:)

That's great. I quit cold turkey, and had been great throughj some rough times. I guess it just proves that one always has to keep an eye on the ball.

Yeah, I gained a fair amount when I quit too. I just hit the weights harder and gained a lot of muscle along with the "insulation." LOL

I hope you manage to pack up again and stay that way.

Thanks Ria. I'm quitting again today. Hopefully, the nicotine didn't build up too much in my system.

He he. I've been avoiding friends/family because I know they'd be all over me.

Have just ordered your patches CB!!!!!! :24: :p :D

I smoke a lot of weed if that counts for anything, but at least what I'm smoking isn't going to kill me.

Oh, in other thread, you said you didn't do drugs..........oh well *shakes head in confusion* and moves on......

LOL with your bad foot. :D

hahaha, ya know my bad leg's fine now and yep, I did warn the bloke what I am like, but he seems unpeterbed, LOL. He'll understand better when he sees the chaos in my computer eh? Then the penny will drop for him. :24:

I couldn't do it cold turkey - tried I don't know how many times, but in the end I had to do patches. Having an aid to help pack up, I think, gives the lasting effects to not go back again - trying without anything, is no good. It's like going on a diet...you give up things, but the body just craves it again, so it all goes back again. Thaht's what fags do without things to help pack up.

Patches do make you itch at first, but if you keep with it, it goes after time.

Leave the patches on at night if you forget to take them off and you will experience some wonderfully weird dreams - that's an experience too LOL.

LOL, I like your 'muscle' and 'insulation' description there. :D

I used to fall off a lot. But I figured out the trick to staying on the wagon was to NEVER have "just one". because you can never have just one! You might for a little while, only have 1 a month...but eventually you have 1 a week....then you start buying packs again...then its every day...I've made up my mind that I will never stick them in my mouth again. It's much easier than quitting all over again.

That's so true - can't have just one. I tried that too. I would also just buy a pack of ten fags instead of twenty - then a few hours later, was pulling my hair out to have more and kicking myself that I didn't get twenty in first place - consequently, I went out and bought 20 more, costing me more than if I just did that in first place.
