I have to go to the hospital tonight to get my last steroid shot in my ass. which BURNS. They are giving it to me so the baby's lungs will develop just a little faster, incase I should go into labor early. I'm already effaced 50% and they put me on moderate bed rest. Don't let it fool you...I can't do a fucken thing except piss shit shower and eat. It fucken sucks. I wanna do the right thing, but it's getting me really down. I know it's for a good cause, but I feel more useless than I did before with not working. There's going to be a lot of me ranting in this thread just saying things off the top of my head.

I probably won't even make it to 40 weeks. i'll be 31 weeks on thursday.

My heart goes out to you G.Angel. I too was on bedrest - 3 times! (each child) I understand the feeling 'useless part'. But you most certainly are not useless because you are not working. What you are doing- just laying there in bed is one of the most beautiful things you will ever have the opportunity of doing. Just think about your body creating a beautiful child and all that entails. That makes you worth more than your weight in gold.

Bed rest sure is frustrating, but it will be worth it hun. Hang in there. I pray for added patience for you G.Angel and for that little bundle of joy to develop healthy, healthy, healthy!

I got my final shot, and it was horrible for me. The needle itself wasn't bad on the ass lol but the burning and sensitivity afterwards...i could barely walk. I would rather have had the guy stab me repeatedly with that needle than feel that after shock again...

You're cervix has a certain thickness to it. When you start to efface, that means that it's thinning out, which is getting the baby ready to come out. Well You shouldn't start any of that until 37/38 weeks at the latest. You go through a 40 week pregnancy. And 37 weeks is full term. I'm only close to 31 weeks...which is way to early for the baby to come. And when I say I'm 50% effaced, that means my cervix has thinned out half way for the baby. If it gets to 100% and i'm not dilated or even close to where I should be to give birth, then I will be on complete bed rest to the point where I will need a bed pan.
I'm not going to be early b/c of being effaced and having to take meds so the chances of me going too early are diminished. Although I only take the pills for another 5-6 weeks. So I have to see how I will hold out.
