I don't like going to the doctor :(

I don't think there are many people out there who can honestly say they enjoy going to the doctor. They could have many reasons to feel that way, many are afraid to heard bad news and others might be a bit nervious to hear things are not going as expected health-wise! I fit in perfectly in the second group. I've been really sick for the past 2 and half years, and I really dream my doctor visits... Most of them seem to be so heartless sometimes, at least the ones I have consulted... always minimizing my feelings/emotional pain. This is one of the many reasons I dread going to see the doctor.

Not all the doctors have been mean or heartless to me tho, some have been quite understanding and kind (very few). Sometimes I really wonder how someone like that is a doctor, I guess their main motivation since the start wasn't helping others... they might have got into this because of the money. Funny, because I've always dreamed of becoming a doctor. If I was one, I'd put a lot effort on helping my patients and be understanding; never dismiss their pain or fears like others have done with me.

I think most chronically ill patients will relate to this post, in one way or another, sadly :(

Have you had a good experience with your doctor? Do you dread going to see a doctor? Why? Why not?

An apple a day keeps the doctor away! I think a healthy diet coupled with a good level of exercise will ensure you rarely have to see a doctor. I have hardly seen mine perhaps averaging one visit every 2 years. Although that being said, some say it is better to be frequently ill as it clears your body of toxins, otherwise you're just building up to one big illness.

kaiuk, the apple part is right, but some people have serious illnesses. I'm seeing an homeopathic doctor since January because of allergies and asthma and it's true, I don't like going there, but I am loving the way I am feeling, I almost don't get sick and I take no medicines at all and the same is happening to my 6 year old. :)

I don't really like going to the doctor to be frank I believe that if you visit a doctor all the time this can affect you phycologically without knowing it

That’s more common than people admit.
A lot of people avoid doctors because of anxiety, past bad experiences, cost, or just not wanting to hear something worrying. It can also feel uncomfortable to lose control or be judged.
The problem is, avoiding care usually makes uncertainty worse. Small issues can become bigger, and anxiety builds in the unknown.
