Well from reading the thread on it maybe he was using a better camera... from his writing about it, it seems like he would have known how to correct exposure! Well, he probably pretty rushed/excited from catching anything at all.

Too bad they didn't have a good camera on them.
It looks like she got it off a camera / photography forum so I'm sure there was a good camera involved. The " shooter " could have been a very long distance away not counting dealing with horrible lighting conditions.

You have a lot to learn about photography Goat Girl.

Yeah, I know, I just didn't look at the link before I first posted ;)

It looks like a luck shot, but obviously the guy had to do a lot of work to capture even these over exposed shots--and they are still amazing.

Er, you don't exactly have time to adjust a camera with once in a lifetime shots like this. Having a camera that can shoot well on auto can be an essential sometimes :thumbup

I shoot a lot of birds and the only thing lucky about it is he was in the right place at the right time. As far as the series of shots goes all I can say is he didn't have any time to set up. Things happen real fast in nature and rarely do you get a second try. It's not like sitting in a studio and having enough time to tell the peeps to say cheese.

Regarding the over exposed shots. Once again take a real hard look at the conditions he shot them under, factor in not having any time and voila you have a once in a lifetime experience that's at least captured as an image cuz nobody would believe it otherwise.

Oh... one more thing. Never assume he's parked his ass 50' from what's going on. It's quite possible considering he's a birder that he was using a 600mm and standing a 1/2 mile away and had to do a hell of a lot of editing for you to see what you do.

Me neither, though I have shot on Auto mode, when I first had my SLR, even though on my powershot, I didn't always do that

Bri quit being so quick to correct me and read my post.

I was making an actual educated statement about this photo unlike when you said it must've been taken with a low quality camera.

I said I don't shoot on auto, and therefore I fuck up shots like this...as in I know I should shoot in Auto, but my camera is never on that when shit like this happens.

Get it?

Me neither, though I have shot on Auto mode, when I first had my SLR, even though on my powershot, I didn't always do that

When I rush to turn my camera on, it goes straight past the Auto option to "M." It's worse on my digital! Too many options! At least on film I have become familiar enough with the dials and buttons to adjust quickly!!

My on the fly digital photos are horrible. I am struggling with technology and it makes me feel old and stuck in my ways!
