Just tracking a delivery.

Supposed to be here per their own website two days ago.

The only information you can get from them is when it was picked up, and when it was delivered.

I'll take UPS or Fed Ex any day over the postal service.

Oh god don't get me started on the postal service.. okay, worst story.

I went back to the UK for a couple of weeks last March, while my Mr was still here in Canada. End of March (like a week or two after I left) the Mr posted a parcel to me in the UK for my birthday that was at the end of April. I came back here middle of May and I still hadn't got it. He sent it from Vancouver which is where we were living at that time, then when I was back in Canada we were living in Alberta over the summer. One random day in August the postman knocks on my door and hands me the missing parcel. With Royal Mail stamps over it.

No idea what happened to it, where it went through all that time. We even put a claim in for it and had our money back months earlier.

Sadly, I have too many bad stories when dealing with postal services.

It should be privatized

Let the other companies deal with regular mail also

Make junk mail so expensive those idiots won't afford to send that crap. Easy way to do that. Make it a requirement that all letters be hand addressed. Unless you have a permit otherwise. And those permits would be expensive for anybody but legitimate mail such as billings.

Ya'll do realize that both UPS and Fed Ex utilize the USPS for final deliveries, don't ya?

FedEx SmartPost

When it comes to low-weight shipping for residential customers, consider the efficient, economical FedEx SmartPost service. By utilizing the U.S. Postal Service[SUP]®[/SUP] for final delivery, FedEx SmartPost reaches every U.S. address, including P.O. boxes and military APO, FPO and DPO destinations. You can even use FedEx SmartPost to ship to Alaska, Hawaii and all U.S. territories. http://www.fedex.com/us/smart-post/index.html

Q. When will I receive my mail piece?
A. UPS Mail Innovations inducts your mail piece into the U.S. Postal Service within 48 hours of processing. The U.S. Postal Service will then deliver the mail piece within three to five days, on average.
Q. Why does the Post Office have my UPS Mail Innovations package?
A. UPS Mail Innovations works with the U.S. Postal Service, providing the pick-up, processing, and interim transportation of mail, with final delivery being made by domestic and international postal services.

Privatize? Are you kidding? Fed Ex and UPS utilize the USPS because the USPS delivers to places that they don't deem cost efficient. Here is an extreme example of post office delivery but don't look for Fed Ex, DHL or UPS to service this area. http://www.mnn.com/green-tech/gadge...hotos-of-the-week-aug-7-13/mule-train-express mail-happy-smiley.gif

The only reason they farm out to the USPS is because for those instances it makes sense because USPS is available. If there is no USPS then those routes would be picked up by somebody. Maybe not as regular service but what is the option than to privatize? USPS is bankrupt and not self paying. Fed EX and UPS are way more efficient and way more accountable than the USPS. And they understand you are a customer where at USPS they could give a shit.

Yes, I do realize that. They deem me rural enough that they (UPS or Fed Ex) won't guarantee next day air Saturday delivery to my home. I also realize that since I had a Fed Ex guy dig up some of my lawn (trying to make a three point turn out of my parking area) that they hire "private individuals" for the more rural runs.

That said, I remember having to deal a lawyer up in Pennsylvania and had to get him some paperwork ASAP. I went into the post office and asked them how much it would be to guarantee a next day air packet to the legal firm. The guy behind the counter at the post office told me if I wanted to ensure that it was there the next day to go to Fed Ex LOL

when my dad goes on his sailing trips he usually sends me post cards from the different places in Spain or Africa or South America. In most cases my dad will arrive home before the post cards do, and he's normally gone for at least 3 weeks to 3 months.

I always thought that one of the most dull jobs out there are jobs in the Postal Service where much of the time your working behind the counter answering people's questions and running the cash register.

Of course, there's more to working in a Post Office than just that. But I'd rather work in an environment that's a little more interesting.

I never have any problems with USPS, and we ship hundreds of packages by USPS a month from work. Always using their Priority Mail boxes.

People can make or break any company. You have bad drivers working for everyone I'm sure.

That said, as a customer, I much preferred the ease updated information was given to me by UPS. Day by day tracking, knowing exactly where the product was at. Not to say you couldn't do that with the Post Office, but a little harder to find.

Trick in business is to make the transaction easy.

I thought this was about the band, initially. And I was going to blacklist whoever bad mouthed The Postal Service.

But since we're talking about USPS, I totally agree. :D
