I believe...God is a man

A majority of people think God is male with nearly half of the population in Britain believing that all religions discriminate on grounds of gender.

Only 1% of people think of God as female, with 62% considering God to be male, the online survey conducted earlier this month of 1,050 adults in Britain found.

The survey showed around three quarters, or 73%, of those who classified themselves as Christian considered God as male.

Just under a half, or 49%, of people think all religions "fundamentally discriminate on grounds of gender'' and 56% think all religions discriminate on grounds of sexual orientation, according to the poll findings.

But when asked whether religion has "no place'' in modern life only 29% agreed while 62% disagreed.

The poll was commissioned by the Movement for Reform Judaism in Britain to coincide with its launch of its new daily and Sabbath prayer book, or Siddur.

The prayer book removes male descriptions of God such as King, Father and Lord, in favour of "gender neutral'' expressions such as Eternal One and living God.

It includes mentions of prominent women from the Old Testament for the first time in prayers such as the Amidah, the central prayer of the Jewish liturgy.

It also provides prayers for 21st century problems such as environmental and natural disasters and prayers for depression, miscarriage and the death of a child.

Ummm! I don't think 1050 people could be classed as an example of what the British people think. It's not a very high percentage of the population is it....it's not even the population of a small village! Interesting though that here we have yet another religious denomination with 'new ideas'.

any sample size over 1000 (preferably 1500) is concidered statistically significant. The numbers seem to be reflective of others I have seen

Well, you may be right FWV, I can't say I know enough about to put up an argument. It just seems rather strange to me that the opinion of 1500 people would be seen as indicative of what 61 million others might think. Anyway, I bow to your superior knowledge on this one. :)

So your god is beyond the comprehension of the human mind...yet you appear to know what he is and isn't! :24:

Although we can understand some of His attributes, His essence cannot be comprehended by a human's limited mental capacity. God has created mankind primarily so that they may know their creator through his creations.

It that case, I'm going to get to know him a bit better through drinking the alcohol he created and smoking the ganja and tobacco he created.:D If any one critisises me for it, I'm going to tell them to stop oppressing Gods will!:D

Are you trying to be stupid or are you stupid?

God created grains for humans to eat and water to drink. Humans are the idiots who found a way to not only mutilate the intended purpose, but also drink so much of it that they mutilate themselves. Just like God doesn't create war, stupid humans create war. God gives us the tools and we screw it up.
