I miss you just the same. I was only 7 when you died 46 years ago. Dad, I wonder what my life would have been like to have you with me every day of my life. Losing a parent is hard but I can only imagine losing a child could be worse. Technology was not far enough along to save you but the technology saves people stricken similarly daily now. I write this just so I can say I miss you.

I lost my mother when she was 55 and it seems way to young........I was 22, hardest death I ever went thru that's for sure, but it wouldn't compare to a death of a child.

I just suffer depression so just thinking of something bad happening to him makes me have to go take a pill

Both my Dad and my Mother had similar situations as yours Fred..

My Dad lost his father when he was about 7. His mother stayed widowed the rest of her life having the kids ( 14 of them ) work on the farm helping her out.. One of the kids died at age 21 of a illness ( again when my father was young ) but the family held strong together. They worked for the post office and delivered the mail which was a great job back then.

My Mothers Mom passed away when she was 9. Her father remarried my Grandmother sister ( my Mom's aunt ) who also had become a widow and had kids of her own.. With 9 kids on my Mom's side of the family and added the 2 from my Step Grandmother it made 11.. My Mom always said my Step-Grandmother / Great-Aunt always favored her kids and the very few times I met her I could see why she believed that. My Grandfather was blind to the favouritism in the family as he was too busy working and making a living on the railroad to feed the kids and keep a roof on top of all of them.

Life is not fair..

You seem very trustworthy, successful and caring. What more can you be beside a good father yourself.
