I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT need alcohol to have a good time....

I dont need anything to have a good time.
I could sit in a room without light, sound and any objects and still entertain my self.

No I wasnt thinking about that you perves...

I completely understand the question.. its about being able to be your self in public
confidence..

Once you realize that everyone puts their shoes on one foot at a time and everyone
was a kid once just we were

no one stands above another unless you let them
Dont be afraid to be who you are..

I don't know man, it didn't take long for me to get gout. I was 25 when I had my first attack... the liver ain't that strong.

Its pretty strong if you think about it, I mean, alcohol is a poison. And every day there are people out there taking huge quantities of it, and most only suffer from dehydration the next morning.

Obviously, you can beat your liver into submission, but it takes a lot of doing. If you think of what other poisons can do to other organs.

I guess maybe I just lucked out with mine. It had taken serious abuse by the time I was in my early twenties... now I pay the price... I miss things like red wine so much :(

Nope, alcohol is not needed to have a good time. I used to drink heavily a couple nights a week but I have gotten out of the habit since my drinking buddies moved away (not that V wasn't a drinking buddy...she just doesn't drink as much as these guys did). Plus I have all kinds of restrictions being on South Beach and one of those is that you can have a glass or 2 of wine or a light beer here and there. Alcohol is nothing but empty calories.

Last night we had our family Christmas party and I had 2 glasses of wine and 3 shots of Kahlua. I was DONE. 2 years ago that would've been just the start of my night and, by the end, I would've had probably 7 beers and 7 shots in between.

I hate beer.:)

Scotch seems okay...a peg or two a day aren't bad for health.(and sex either!!;))

I knew drunkards who died from excessive drinking....often neat....they either died from liver disease or stroke!

i also knew a moron who drank 7 or more beer cans alongwith dragging pure hashish filled cigarettes every night and turned almost senseless during the 'process'!! He lost his mental and physical orientation almost completely!

Everything in moderation. I enjoy a beer or a couple of glasses of wine from time to time, but alcohol is poison. This thread goes well with the previous Drinking Age one, btw. I'm one of the few on here who felt the drinking age is fine at 21. Many people have addictive personalities and those who do often start bad habits with alcohol. Teenagers often associate good times with their surroundings: drinks, friends, food, music. Nobody should NEED alcohol to have a good time, but many will turn to it first. Also, many will use it as an excuse for their behaviors--"I wasn't myself, it was the alcohol talking." By the time most are in their mid-20s or 30s, they start to take on some more accountability. "Maybe, I'll just have one beer. I'm driving home tonight." Alcohol kills brain cells, hence the buzzed feeling. If one continually poisons his or her body, one is doomed to star in reality shows such as: Jackass or Jersey Shore or something else from MTV or VH1. Call me crazy, but I don't ever want that for myself or anyone I care about.

I know of a dear friend who used to be 'just a social drinker'. He started working night shift, got stressed at work and cant cope, so he started drinking 2 beers per day everyday to de-stress and help him to go to sleep. He used his working night shift and stress as his license to drink daily. Initially, it was within moderation and he was able to stop when he would let himself do so. As time progressed he was drinking more and more to the point where he can consume 3 full bottles of vodka per day. it progressed more to where he started using weed then Methamphetamine. He was messed up. He was an excellent ICU nurse and can even beat the Doctors with his intellect. But he LOST it ALL. He LOST his family, his nursing license and even went to jail for felonies he committed. It's really unfortunate what has happened to him just coz he didn't have control over his drinking :(
