the path itself was at one time 1,000 miles, but now it seems that the area of concern is the New York city area and new england coastline

On the Mississippi coast I have not seen the effects but its really windy and cold.
I camped in a tent this past weekend for Halloween at an RV campground in a state park.
Had plenty of heat from electric heater but outside had to stay next to fire.

I will put up with the wind and rain. you folks out there can keep your earthquakes. We have been getting rain since Saturday night. The wind is driving it hard against the north side of the house. Right now it looks like the path is straight into Pa. and then turn and come right over us. Glad I live on TOP of the mountain and not along a creek or river.

My sister had to evacuate the Air force base they are stationed at in Dover. They are in Maryland now. My brother in law had to stay behind, because he is a Civil Engineer in the Air Force. Which is basically a construction worker. So if anything happens he gets to clean up and rebuild.

Pssssh everyone in Maine is up in arms about Sandy.... For fuck's sake we've had worse snow storms. I remember the flood of 87 and the ice storm of 98. This is tit. 30 MPH winds and rain. Storm of the century; Mainer's will die!

That's what one of the people I was talking to by text was saying. He's like "People, we live in New England...we've seen much worse! It's no big deal."

I live in Pennsylvania.
At this time it's raining but the wind is starting to pick up.
Flood warnings has been issued at 7:05PM (DST).
Our neighboring West Virginia(Panhandle) and surrounding jurisdictions are dealing with blizzard conditions.
Local forecasters say the brunt of the storm will be overnight until mid morning before it dies down.

Funny how you shop for food then lose your appetite.
Still have power @ this time but...I may lose it later tonight.

Be careful everyone and take care.

They just killed all the power on the islands around NYC and lower Manhattan. The crane was bent backwards in the wind.
They reported 90 mph gusts at the new WTC. When I loaded wood in the boiler awhile ago it was blowing like crazy and driving the rain hard. The one old tomcat is hanging out somewhere warm and dry. He will be hungry by morning even if the storm is still raging.
