Have you ever had a boss who didn’t treat you with respect? I haven’t personally experienced a toxic boss, but if I encounter a difficult boss ever, I will maintain my ground. If someone treats you poorly, you are not obligated to respect back. A "treat-as-you're-treated" approach might be the only way to maintain self-respect. What’s your take, do you leave the job or confront the difficult behaviour of your boss?

My superior was toxic. When I was new to work she treated me unfairly. I started working teaching Mathematics and Physics at the age of 20. I was hired by the University president. My superior kept on demanding of anything like buying cigarettes for her, mailing her love letter, buying something at the university canteen, and more. This angered the tenured teachers. I was young and never cared of her treatment but the tenured teachers filed a petition for our dean and she was removed.

I changed jobs for toxic bosses more than once. I would stand my ground where I could but when I realized I would never advance because of my boss it was time to change.

Indeed, some bosses are toxic, I experienced it personally. The next boss who replaced the toxic one was so kind and understanding, She respects everyone. She is a true leader .

Handling a difficult boss involves staying calm, maintaining professionalism, and understanding their perspective. I’d try clear communication, set boundaries when needed, and focus on solutions rather than conflicts. If things get tough, seeking HR guidance might help.

Handling a difficult boss requires patience, professionalism, and effective communication. First, try to understand their perspective and identify the root of the issue. Keep calm and maintain a positive attitude, even in challenging situations. Focus on delivering your work at a high standard, and if necessary, have a constructive conversation to address concerns. Setting clear boundaries and seeking support from HR when needed can also help.

Try to understand the reasons behind your boss's behavior. Like do o they have certain communication styles that might be misconstrued? or they under pressure themselves?
