So lately we've been really slow at work and I haven't really been doing a whole lot of anything besides posting here. But I was watching Office Space a few days ago and it gave me the idea for this thread.

So... how much work do you think you do in a given day?

Lately... I've been working maybe 1 to 2 hours per day out of my 8 hours.

I work 12.5 hour shifts so I don't have an option to pick in the poll cos usually I will work 10+ hours of the day depending how busy I am. It's very rare that I get to sit down at work.

I have way too much idle time, it drives me insane. I'm just lucky to get paid for 40 hours. Very lucky.
My problem is, I work too fast. I see people around me working so slowly, they never have free time.

When I first started my job ( 2 years ago) I worked the whole time. If there was lack of work, I would find something. I stopped doing that after I realized that everyone else worked super slowly/watched movies/browsed the web/chat and just gave me their work to do when I was finished with mine. No sense doing more work when you get no praise or recognition and just feel like you're being taken advantage of.

Now I do about the same amount of work as everyone else. It also helps that it's different from when I started and that I get along with all my coworkers pretty well.

It's true. Never ever be "too good" at something others do as well. They'll take advantage and it never pays off anyway!

Same situation here. I used to help others, but now I do not. And that's how we all like it. :D

I'm at my new job a week today. We work 14-12 hour days straight.

So far, I'm probably averaging 2 or 3 hours per day of actual work. It's difficult to stay awake!

My boss flies in Wednesday...I expect this current trend to end then.

I'm like the go to guy at work because I've been there the longest and have seen pretty much every eventuality. I'm happy to lend a hand, but once or twice I've felt that if my coworker devoted a little analytical attention to the problem they could have solved the problem themselves.

I picked 3-4 because on an average day I probably do between two and three hours of actually sustained productivity.

Most of the time, 1-2 hours. I actually quite like my job, but I'm also pretty fast, and I spend some of my time waiting around on our printers getting back to me with quotes.

The rest of the time, I spend on OTz and Pinterest, or writing.

I would work 7.

if its not busy I find something to do. Clean, rearrange...whatever. But I can't go to work and NOT work. If my job was that boring I'd find another.

I'm not always this slow. There are times where I can go for months without having a spare moment. And as long as I can mess around here it's all good in the hood. :thumbup

I found out a while back these people like my ambitious nature until it makes them look bad. I was creating projects, being hyper on top of things, and it wasn't what my supervisor liked. She likes to point out mistakes, order people around, and bitch. She won't let you take that away from her.

All for the greater good. Hopefully I can start taking clients in the new two years.
