Well we live in a one bedroom council flat which is cheaper than private rent over here, because we're on income support we don't have to pay any rent but if we did it would be about £200 - £250 a month ($400 - $500). If it was private rent it would probably be about £400 - £500 a month ($800 - $1000)

Damn, that would be nice..............I'm currently paying £287 a month. My last place was pretty nice, rent there was about £275, it was too small for three of use but there were some great facilities we could use like a hot tub, gym, sauna and swimming pool. It was a little too far out though and after a couple of months into out 6 month contract they told us we would have to move at the end on it as they were selling it.

My first place though was about £313, the house itself was quite nice but a little too expensive in the end for me. We were paying for location though.

wanna convert that to US $ for us hun?? :)

Not particularly ;)

£313 is roughly $641, £287 is $588, £275 is $564

So lets see, ummm, the first place I lived in was £313 and I lived with three others, the second place was £275 and there were three of us. Now there is 4 of us again paying £287 each.
To be fair, £287 is pretty cheap where we are now.

375 a month for a 5 bedroom 2 1/2 bath on a lake plus utilities and cable/internet. and yes, it is a nice house

of course, the overall rent is split between me and 4 other guys, so that makes it affordable
