I'm still not used to this work schedule.. and not getting the sleep I need.. when I'm off, I tend to fall asleep a few times a day... (I swear its narcolepsy) and then I'm wired til 1-2am... then I'm tired all the next day, and I wanna nap... and so on...

Maybe I need a new bed time ritual.... so what do you do?

I usually sleep in a bat cave... everything must be dark and quiet.. nothing flashing, no lights, nothing ticking...curtains closed tight..
It's just not working the same for me...

One way is to do yoga before you go to sleep. Just sitting there, relax and only concentrate on your breathing, just completely clear your head..

Another is to listen to calming music softly, some people have lullabies.. It's not stupid, a lot of adults listen to lullabies at night..

Make sure if you read, you don't do it on your bed, you need to teach your mind that bed is for sleep, not reading..

Another thing, NO sugary stuff before bed, try cut down on caffeine if you have any..

I had insomnia for a while, I went to my school counselor and talked and he told me these things and yeah.. Just to try and not stress and through out the day if you have been working to hard, sit down, relax for ever 5 minutes, have some water, and just breath..

xx

I listen to music!

Same :]

I either... put some ear phones in... have a playlist consisting of like 10 songs? That way I don't have music playing in my ears all night long.

Or...

Just stick a CD on... it will help if you have the right music.

Music is good, but soothing sounds are better, the ocean or .. or .. something.

If you go to bed and cannot sleep, get up, do not stay in bed and wonder why you cannot sleep. If your minds all of the place, write down everything you are thinking of, then try again. Don't watch tele, worst thing for it...

If all else fails put your head under your wing.. works every time... for ducks... :(

Oh, and I CANNOT sleep without a fan.

There were times when I absolutely could not fall asleep, but reading always helped, as I'd only get one page done and I'd be nodding off already.

Alright, here's my next question then...

How do you wake yourself up?? On my days off, I sleep with no alarm (I mean it is my day off afterall) but like I said, at work I get hardly any sleep... so I'm screwed up

I ask all these silly questions cuz I have been on this weight loss kick, and recently I have been sooo tired and I dont want my effed up sleep to start making me not motivated to do what I need to do :( I'm trying to be proactive here... it's a first for me!

I only go to bed when I'm really sleepy. And I usually fall asleep pretty quickly. Sometimes it means I'm up 20+ hours with insomnia before I can sleep, but I still wait 'til I'm tired to go to bed.
I must have an alarm clock to get up. I'm not a morning person, so me up in the morning is only 'cause of work or a fire.
