Have you ever realized, it gives more thrill to spend money than earn money. Having money readily available often tempts people to spend impulsively. This seems to be a natural psychological tendency. Spending usually offer emotional relief, even though it is short-term, but if unchecked spending can be detrimental. How do you overcome the urge to spending?

Overcoming the urge to spend can be tough. I’ve had moments where impulse buying almost got the best of me. What helps me is setting a clear budget and reminding myself of my bigger financial goals. Also, I try to wait 24 hours before making any non-essential purchase; often, the urge fades away.

I track my expenses and remind myself of long-term goals. When tempted, I ask if it’s a want or a need. Once, avoiding impulsive shopping helped me save for a camera I’d wanted for years.

I start with Delaying purchases, find alternative activities to replace the urge, and consider an all-cash budget. building healthier financial habits like saving and setting financial goals can help

Earning money is one of the hardest things to do, while spending it is the easiest. What I do is make a list of things that I need and things that I want. Then I place more emphasis on the former and minimize my spending on the later.
That has helped me to avoid unnecessary spending.

I always reason the various financial needs that I need to meet and weigh it with that desire to spend immediately. Would it enhance the core financial goals that I want to meet? That's when I would always become rational in my spending decisions.
