How do you know

when you're making the right decision regarding someone else' life? My friend messaged me today with this:

"if you had a friend that is going to prison for 16 years for robbing 21 thousand dollars worth of jewelery.. and you know more things bad that she has done... would you throw her under the bus to get 100 thousand dollars from the state for being a witness? keep in mind this person going to jail has 2 kids. shes already going but she can get off for good behavior after 5 years and putting more shit on her will just garantee she will be there for the full 16"

I responded:
"she doesn't deserve those kids if she's doing those kinds of things. they deserve to be in a stable household"

She's like, it's just jewlery though? In my honest opinion, it doesn't matter what the wrong doing is. If someone is doing wrong and bringing that stuff around their kids, that person doesn't deserve to keep their children. It's wrong period. The husband I don't think knows about it, but what do you guys think?? I hate to think of taking a mother away from her children, but they'd be better off with their father who makes his living HONESTLY. I feel bad knowing about all this now...

I wouldn't grass unless it was something that really fucked an innocent persons life up. The police are corrupt cunts and useless where I live so I'd rather sort things out myself. As for your scenario, I'd mind my own business, it has nothing to do with me.

Yeah, you're probably right. But then she said she did "a whole lot of other bad things"? Whatever that means. I wish she hadn't asked this -___-

:homo:

There aint much lower than being a grass.

I could do so much with 100 thou... I'd def rat on their ass. If youre stupid enough to do the crime then it's on you!

Shame! I could care less about the money. It was the kids I was worried about. But this lady is already looking at jail time for something else. I mean, it is HORRIBLE that she stole that much money, who knows what else she is capable of? I'm in bad shape as a single mother, and she's had a job and so does her husband, but I'm not gonna go robbing a jewelry store!? She was wrong, and she needs help more than 16 years of jail time.

This person is a friend...no I would not rat on her, she is already serving time. That is as long as the other crimes I knew about were not too serious. If she killed someone for example I would tell the police, but it wouldn't be about the money.

If this person was a stranger, probably/most definitely different and that probably would be about the money.

Actually just as I was writing this I've changed my mind, think if it was a stranger I'd rather just not get myself involved in a shit storm.

Depends on the other crimes to a degree, like other people have said, if she was a genuinely bad person then it'd be different.

My worry though would be the repercussions of giving evidence when you're volunteering it, rather than being already implicated. People won't take too kindly to that, and this girl will have friends and family on the outside.

I wouldn't rat on someone for stealing money if she is already getting 16 years. There are child molestors who serve less time....

Oh, I'm guessing Grass is being a stool pidgeon and I would definitely turn someone in for molesting or rape. And if I could find a "friend" to beat the bastard up first. I have no tolerance for sexual molestation.

I also think they should take all those guys who molested that 11 year old in a park and cut off their dicks.

She isn't facing 16 years. She's facing 5 right now, but my friend told me if the court catches wind of the other stuff she's done she could be facing 16 years. The 5, she's been promised that if she's on good behavior, she could get out early. If she faces the 16 years, there is no chance of getting out on good behavior.
