Day before yesterday I received a check which I needed to deposit in the bank to pay some bills. Endorse it fill out my deposit slip. Run out the door to my truck. Turn the key...click click ...click click click. Battery is dead. Great. I do not have jumper cables so walk the neighborhood looking for someone who does. Battery was under warranty so I am back in business with just the inconvenience but I felt stranded when I could not go.

I'm horrible about it. I multi-task very well on the job b/c it's what we have to do...but in real life, I cannot STAND to be out and about trying to run some errands (specifically things like going to the tag office or going inside the bank to handle whatever business I need to) and have people call me. It ruins my whole momentum and I spend most of the time trying to get off the phone, LOL

I'm not good with it.

If that would have happened to me, I would have sat there crying not knowing what to do.

I also stay very calm and collected as getting stressed will only make matters worse. I basically can handle almost anything and its actually quite annoying as everyone calls me for their problems resolutions..

I just do whatever it takes to get things moving again. As far as Tash and the phone distraction we don't get service for squat out here and I don't even turn it on. Any volunteers to fix the rusted out brake lines on my suburban??

Just wondering because it seems hurdles come in bunches sometimes.

If you sit back and reflect on this, you will find hurdles are always coming at us, we just feel overwhelmed by them in times of crisis. If you stay calm and can keep a focused mind, you can stay on track, without having that feeling overcome you and deal with the bigger issue at hand. Smaller things seem to get amplified when things go wrong as in "why do i need this right now" but reality is, we never really need any other problems, but they will happen and we need to deal with them.

There are a set in my wife's car. There are a set in my daughter's car. I think I bought a set for my son. I did not have a set in my truck due to storage space. I bought a set to have here at the house on Tuesday. Since I work from home they are where I am.

Storage space? You can't find space in your garage? Hmmmm, not buying it Fred..........but hind sight is 20/20.......the buying a set for everybody but yourself....that sounds like ya though ;) Original question, accepting of the unexpected....depends what it is, if it's to do with a person, I am pretty accepting, if it's to do with an object, no so patient ;)

Storage space inside my truck is at a premium. As much as I love my Tundra there is little useable storage space. I think I can shove cables under the seat. I did purchase a good set though.

Perfect example. Was just in the bathroom, closing the shower curtain after my shower and the entire curtain rod fell and I can't get it back up. To the point of tears because it won't work. So I just left it laying there. LOL.

Tell me about it! My husband's car is in the shop for the last two weeks, TWO DAYS after spending $700 on new tires, emissions, and new sensor. It has been sitting there because we're not qute sure what to do with it. It needs an entire new engine and the prices from shops range from 3k-5.7k. I just don't think the car is worth putting that in to, so we're likely to just buy a new car. Meanwhile, while we've been going over the options and looking at new cars..... my car ended up on the side of the road today and is now in the shop :| It needs the rear end replaced, new timing belt, and a host of other small things that total 2k. BLAH!

But I'm ok. We have an old truck to drive around in the meantime... and the plan is to go get my brand new car tomorrow. So I'd say I'm handling it pretty well.

And once we fix my car (the 2k problems), I've fairly confident it will last awhile for us. I feel much more comfortable putting money into this car than the other one. It's a good SUV, and I feel we can get at least another 3 years out of it (it just hit 100k). The other car has been nothing but problems the 2 years we've had it (and it's only an 2006), so I don't feel bad letting it go. Plus new car, yay!
