Which one do hermaphrodites use to create ?

Why would male sperm create nipples?

Regards
DL

Ok, a male sperm clearly does create nipples on the basis that there are some male sperm and some female sperm. Some men only produce male sperm, some men only produce female sperm and some men produce both male and female sperm. Therefore, a male sperm must create nipples no?

Wait, wait.... I have to go and look up this 'some men only produce male sperm' thing.

I mean technically sperm don't have a sex, they just carry the genetic code to create a male or female baby. And I know I've read before that all babies start out 'female' as far as that term can be applied, hence the nipples.

To google!

I don't believe everything I read on google. Why do you think some families have only girls and some have only boys? No matter how many kids down the line...

The statistical probability of having a boy or a girl is not impacted by the gender of existing children, so whenever you have a baby, the chances of a boy or girl are still 50/50, even if you already have three girls.

This quote below is basically the explanation:

"It seems reasonable to think that if some men only have sons, they may only have Y sperm, or that fathers with all girls might have only X sperm. But in fact, years of testing have shown that virtually all men have a nearly equal number of X and Y sperm -- even men who have fathered only boys or girls. The explanation for this is that the process by which sperm are formed --spermatogenesis -- guarantees that an equal number of X and Y-sperm are produced. This is because X-sperm and Y-sperm aren't manufactured separately, but result from the division of an XY parent cell."

Here you go http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nipple
I think I see a male nipple in there, the sperm is made of two genders, this is why there was such furore over scientists finding this because most people were concerned over parents deciding whether they wanted just one particular type of gender when they reproduced. I think that concludes that the sperm decides, not the egg, not any chemical im/balance towards a particular gender in the woman's body

Thanks Tuff, see my next post though, I found a few sites that confirmed what I was already thinking.

How reputable is that site though? I subsequently have read mixed opinion and some scientists have found that some men carry more male than female sperm and vice versa. How do we explain that some men only have one gender of child, dozen of kids down the line then their kids only have one gender and so on...?

The sperm is either an X or a Y chromosome, whereas an egg is an X and only an X. If an X sperm fertilises the egg, this makes a girl, if a Y sperm feritilises the egg, it makes a boy.

I've seen some sites suggesting that some men appear to carry more or less of one gender type than another. And I've also heard that sometimes other factors like womb temperature can affect which sperm are more likely to succeed. But I've never seen it suggested that some men might only produce sperm of one type.

Considering that sperm is produced via the splitting of the parent cell, it seems safe to assume that it'd be really unnatural for a man to never, ever produce sperm with an X chromosome.

As for the kids thing - again, it appears there are some men whose male or female sperm do better than the other, but that still doesn't mean they actually don't produce sperm of one gender in the first place.

Ok so maybe they produce more than t'other in some cases. But sperm are male or female. That is determined before the conception point - which is how parents can now screen for a boy or a girl when using IVF.

OK, HK, since you don't believe that.

Are you actually reading my posts? I'm saying that sperm determine the gender of the baby, which is what you're saying too.

Yes, sperm carry the male or female chromosome.

Glad we're all on the same page now

No, he's not reading your posts. Whether the sperm determines the gender of the baby should not even be under discussion. Every 9th grader knows that. lol Although, there are rare exceptions where a XX male or XY female is born. One such case was an Olympic runner. She won a gold medal and had it taken away when to her surprise she found out she had XY chromosomes.

Anyway, you are correct. The testes produce the same number of X and Y sperm. I heard Y sperm are faster but X sperm have more endurance. So if the trip is shorter and the environment less stressful (e.g. preferred temperature and pH) then the Y sperm have the advantage. Otherwise the advantage goes to the X sperm. It's a race.

Sometimes babies can be born with male and female chromosomes as well. May have boy parts but female inside (ie have ovaries)...I've seen it happen at my work.

Did that moron really call me a homophobe? One of my (late) best friends in life was gay as you could ever dream of... and men having nipples is simply because we are mammals... Look around.. all mammals, male AND female have nipples.... and again.. I don't give two shits what the rest of the post said, when it starts with incorrect bullshit I will not read any further..

My best friend in high school was gay and I didn't even know it until we got into college. I guess I should have figured it out before college because he didn't date in high school. We've drifted apart but it's not because of him being gay. We just live in different states and haven't kept up.
