So I went to work today, and my dad calls me up into his office for an obviously serious chat. I'm thinking uh... ok.
Last week I had asked for my "performance review" just because I wanted to know how well I was doing and what areas I needed to work on. In person, I'm not a very good people person. I can't read people, and i usually tend to take a pesimistic attitude towards life more so than not, so instead of accidently pissing off a customer, I'd rather just say the regular pleasantries and be done with it.
Well anyway, I'm working on that. I had my review with the help of a fellow tech of 8 years. We discussed for about an hour and went home.
Which leads me back to this morning. My dad had said he was thinking about it pretty much all weekend and decided to give a leap of faith to the benefit of the doubt that I wanted to stay and do the work. Which I do, more than I've wanted anything else.
So he says, unexpected to me, "I gave you a raise, a considerable raise"
In shock, I didn't even bother to ask how much. Hell, I don't care how much. I just know I was making enough money BEFORE this to have 500 to myself every month after I paid all my bills off.
So now I'm making more, and my dad threw in "There's no reason you shouldn't be at the top of the pay level within a year".
So basically I have to get to where my brother and bobby are within a year. I feel that I can do it, but it's going to take a lot of work.
Don't be surprised if I start posting phone techy shit on here. IMO the best way to learn, is to teach. Anybody wanna know how to fuck with Nortel phone systems while walking around Target's stores? :banana
