The problem, if you want to call it that are screen writers who want to fashion an interesting story that makes a profit in a set amount of time.

Gladiator was atrocious too, totally inaccurate as to the lives of Gladiators.

I guess reality doesn't make such good films?

As far as I know, no gladiator was challenged by an emperor in the coliseum. For the sake of story I can accept that as entertainment. However, what about the gladiator routine portrayed in Gladiator was not accurate? This gladiator life style has been pushed by Hollywood since Sparticus in the 1960's.

U - 571 for example

Brits aren't in that:24::24::24:

That's a terrible film, and completely cheapens the memory of the British servicemen who actually captured the Enigma machine.

But, then, if you see a film starring Jon Bon Jovi and Matthew McCoughagy.... I think you're asking for trouble :D

If it was bigger and better, I could understand it but it's worse, especially when Hollywood changes history to give the Americans credit for others achievements, talk about insecure!:willy_nilly:

Any person tries to make themselves out to be the best in the story. It's a natural habit and why you think that Hollywood would be the exception to that is beyond me.

I mean seriously... why not just take it for what it is (entertainment) and be done with it? No point in getting all worked up and upset over something that doesn't mean anything, IMHO.

I really dont get why film and drama makers have to make historical dramas and films, inaccurate. I've just watched nowhere boy and the shit in that is terrible, same with the Tudors which someone started a thread about. There really is no need when most of the time, the history is far more interesting and dosent lead to a bunch of dumb arses thinking that Scots 800 odd years ago lived in hobbit holes and tghe king of England made his nobles shag all the Scottish virgins. The battle of Stiring Bridge in Braveheart won an Oscar but in truth was COMPLETELY inaccurate. the Scots won by a much more interesting guerrilla warfare and you never hear Wallace's co conspirator, Andrew Moray, mentioned, oh but he was so shit he died in this battle!:sarcasm

Oh, and dont even get me started on U-571 where Hollywood insulted brave British soldiers by claiming credit for this.

I watched the movie "Elizabeth," and I think (though don't know 100% sure) that it is historically accurate, and it was a fabulous movie! though most light headed American movie goers wouldn't think so.

Is it?

I thought about watching it, but I was worried it might be a bit feminist... Also Clive Owen is in it right? He's a turd.

All feminism. It drives me nuts. I'm more than happy to watch a film about Elizabeth, as she was a great monarch and fine leader. I'm less thrilled to watch a film about how Elizabeth was a great leader, despite or because of being a woman.

Or Womyn, as a feminist would say.

lol I think you are referring to radical feminism.

regular feminism just means things like equal wages, etc. radical feminists are the ones changing the spelling of words and burning bras

i like my bras. it makes my tits look better ;)

Because we like to think we're the best at everything. It's human and normal. Just the way it is I'm afraid.

Now stop whining. :p:24:;)

It was very inaccurate and pretty crap, I thought but then there are loads of films about her and most of them are. I wish they could actually make a film about Elizabeth I that wasn't so obsessed with her sex life.
