I love scorcese, but this film I just hated... Sat through it in the cinema... The bit at the end where the rat runs across balcony... As subtle as a sledge hammer

Springers just reminded me of this in another thread...

American Gangster. I was very disappointed in that one. Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe...could've been much better, for sure. And I have a HUGE problem w/ the fact that the movie is set in the 1960s yet we're supposed to believe that nobody bats an eye at a white woman dating a black man!?!?!?

I liked American Gangster, but it was missing something. I have no idea what, but it lacked something major. Any ideas?

It seemed very monotone to me. I mean, there were a few big scenes that I remember, but nothing that was like "WOW!!!"
