Can you PROVE God exists? Why do you take words that are written in a book that could have been written by anyone as solid proof?

Why do you believe in something so totally illogical?

I never said I believed that did I? This isn't talking about evolution, at all. This is about why Christians believe what they do.

I'm a Christian and I was never raised the Bible is proof.
I was raised that the Bible was the word of the Lord and that I needed to have FAITH that it was true.

Ah, however, your entire religion is based on this book. Which we do not even know is true.

Religion is not about proof but about faith...that's kind of the point.

Which is why I find it ridiculous to devote your life to something that you never know is true until right at the end when it doesn't matter.

And that's also why I find it kind of stupid when Christians ask for proof god DOESN'T exist and then come up with ludicrous excuses when we ask for proof God DOES exist.

I'm not making any EXCUSES. I'm telling you plain and simply that I have NO PROOF but I do not require said PROOF because I have faith.

You need PROOF. That's your right and I am not critical of your need for PROOF.

The excuses used to answer the 'prove there isn't a God' question are just as ludicrous as the 'prove there is a God' one

Faith isnt about evidence at all, that's why it's faith

That is my point. ;)

So those who ask for proof there is a god have only faith to make their point where as atheists have the FACT that there is no verifiable proof of a god. Other than the usual stuff like how else could we exist?

Its not a simple right or wrong. I typically find those that have faith happier in my experience than those naysayers like myself that do not believe.

And, if I am right and all that we are is dust n bones when all's said and done, then they likely had a more fulfilling time here even if it was wrong than lil ol' me nitpicking and disecting everything and having no faith.

it doesn't even matter who wrote the book. The messages within it are lessons about humanity and the world. They are to be interpreted for guidance and path towards heaven. Heaven itself can be interpreted many ways, as a place, as a state of being etc, but the point is that it brings you happiness. The Bible is like a map to happiness. Just like other religious books such as the Torah, and the Koran. The construction of the book may come from man, but how can you be so sure that the ideas that fill it are not divine? Paradoxically, to find out if God really does exist, you would need to follow his teachings, which requires you to have faith, which you cant have if you doubt his existence.
