hey brits!

they were showing a typical dinner in buckingham palace...they had everything timed and perfected and the queen had to wear her fanciest sparkly gown and arrive on an elevator and be announced and everything...like she can't ever just chill out and eat a bowl of cereal in front of the tv by herself...lol

LOL No kidding. I'd never survive int hat environment. The tabloids would love me though

Was that the programs where they showed behind the scenes of the royal family and stuff? I saw some of them, was very interesting. I guess all the theatricals are because of hundreds of years of traditions. I don't think I could cope with living like that. It's no wonder that the royals seem hopelessly out of touch with the rest of us when they have to go through all that! I actually had a renewed respect for them after seeing all that, the Queen looks very uncomfortable for instance with some of the people she has to come into contact with, especially those nutters who follow her around all her royal visits to places ect and keep showering her with crap presents! If that was me in that situation I think I'd end up turning round to them and saying
"Look, I'm the ruler of this country and one of the richest people here too. I have everything I want, why the hell do you think I want a crap photo of me with some stranger? I appreciate you like me for whatever reason but ffs stop following me around like a bloody stalker and get a life!"

what do you mean by theatrical?:24:

I was just gonna ask that too Debs. :D

She can chill out at times and probably has peanut and jam sandwiches at times even LOL.

Seriously though, when she is having formal dinners, then she is announced yes and she will dress that formally and glamorous. She does have alone times occasionally. :)

do proper ladies there always wear matching hats and coats? lol

Yep, but I and many other women over here, wear co-ordinating too, so it's not just real ladies as you call them. Well, I don't wear hats, but I do co-ordinate. :D

damn fine photograph...

She probably does a few things when no-one's looking. :D ;)

She has a great sense of humour though.:)

I used to work for Lady Gibberd before she died and she's met the royals personally on quite a few occasions. She didn't like the Queen as she said the Queen seems to look down at women somewhat and talk over their heads to the men. She also couldn't stand Philip and she reckoned Charles was a strange man.

Ah yes, but she could have been jealous - a Lady but not the Queen she maybe wished she could have been eh? It does go on ya know, in those circles.

There is more rivalry amongst the priveliged than anywhere else methinks, imo. ;)
