Don't know if you all missed me or not :tooth but was out of the country in Ireland for several weeks. Joe's Ma died suddenly and we went to Ireland. It was not a nice death, it was WAAAY expensive going at the last minute and having to change plans as we were told if we wanted to see her alive we had to get there NOW. The weather was lousy and we both got sick. Joe was understandably very depressed having lost both his parents in the span of 5 months. I am almost totally out of leave and Joe had to take 3 days LWOP aka leave w/o pay. We spent most of our savings. All and all good to be back but boy it's been a bad start to the year. One of my cats will NOT get off my lap anytime I sit down now-talk about separation anxiety :D dogs were very glad to see us too but they handled it better than one of our cats-Phantom, as they have been with us longer, this is the longest Phantom was separated from us. Sigh, don't know how we will find both the time and money now to build our house to get there this year BUT, if Ma's house sells we should get a settlement from there BUT the economy in Ireland sucks BUT her house is on a prime location sooooo, who knows, there is 6 kids so that would be 1/6th of the settlement mind you.

Ma was a lovely person and I will really miss her, much harder death than Da as he had advanced alzheimers so the man he was we said goodbye to a few years ago if you know what I mean.....

Joe taking it very hard, he's very depressed.

Man, I thought last year sucked. But, it's early, rest of the year should be better.....right? :ninja

One thing funny did happen. For some reason they found Da's false teeth and decided to put them in Ma's coffin. So we were all very tired maintaining almost 24/7 vigil until she passed, so understanding that we were a little punchy. Bernadette, the oldest put the false teeth in her coffin not really paying attention where, various things were put there, Joe put a pony tail of his hair there, someone put a small bottle of her favorite whiskey there, etc.

Ma's open coffin was at the funeral home while the family surrounded it saying goodbye and other family and friends were also there, we were looking at what family had put in there and the youngest daughter discovered WHERE Bernie had put Da's false teeth- IN BETWEEN Ma's Legs! So then the youngest son whispered so only family could hear, "It's been a long time since Da's teeth have been down there." All the immediately family burst out laughing, then tried to stifle it what with all the people around, which only made us laugh harder until we bascially were crying with laughter.

One of the few light hearted moments.........

Glad you pulled through it together. Catch your breath and know that things will improve slowly. A parent death is hard and takes time. Be patient with each other also.
