all HP computers come with a separate partition with the boot info on it, no disc required.

It's so hard to help people online as everyone's level of computer knowledge is different.. I have done repairs down to motherboard solder to a stripping a hard drive and even opened it up and fixed the spinning discs inside..

When I tell my Western Digital guy about that he just smiles in disbelief..

Of course those were Quantum Fireballs 80 MEG ( not Gigs ) HDD ( now Seagate I think )..

Sorted! Took it round a mate's tonight and he sorted it out, apparently there was a really corrupted file which was stopping it start up. All better now.:thumbup
