ok so i applied for this "nanny" job watching 2 toddlers...I already sent the lady my resume and I haven't heard back from her yet, I just typed up this email but I want yalls opinions on it before I send it, I don't want to look too desperate...but before I sent my resume, she told me I sounded like a perfect match. Here is the email..what do yall think?

"Hi Rebecca, I know I already sent you my resume but there is another thing that I forgot to mention on it. About a year ago my 2 year old niece moved in with us for 2 months. Her Grandmother came with her but she moved to Lake Jackson to start a job, so I was the primary care giver for my niece for those 2 months until her Mother (my sister in law) could get down here. They lived in Oregon before so it was a big move for them and due to work they could not all come together. I know being a fulltime caregiver is a lot different than the other experience I have so I just wanted to mention it. I am registering for my classes some time next week so if you are interested please let me know! I would be more than happy to come and meet with you and your husband and children whenever it is convenient for you! Thank you for your consideration! "

so you think i should send it? i just sent my resume last night, so i dont wanna jump the gun and sound too desperate...I don't know how much it matters since this isn't a company, just a mother of 2 children looking for a nanny

Yeah I dont think it matters much. If you send it then she knows you are really interested. Plus, you left out some good facts about yourself when you sent in your resume. And the way you wrote it makes you seem really interested in kids. I'd go for it!
(But don't come back and yell at me if you dont get the job):D

haha i will make sure and blame it ALL on you if i dont get the job, suzie ;) haha im jk. I was wondering also...should i include a nice pic of myself with this email?? I am really trying to personalize things because all of our correspondance has been online and I think it would be a nice touch, but then again it might come off as weird or creepy. I am gonna wait for at least like 5 other opinions before i make a decision, I REALLY want this job... $250 a week for 20 hours of babysitting...is SWEEEEEET and the hours are just PERFECT. 2-6:30pm...fits around school and still gives me my evenings free for homework and whatnot. I am really really wanting this job.
pics...either this one

or this one.
say also if yout hink including a pic is a bad idea or good idea.

I'm definitely going with no on the picture. It doesn't seem professional to me....

Yeah, I probably wouldnt put a pic. Leave it at the email...and if she likes what you say enough, then you can set up a time to meet in person.

more votes! I just think it might ease the tension with the whole idea of me answering a craigslist ad to watch someones children...i know i wouldnt be comfortable with a complete stranger that i met on the net watching my kids...that was my reasoning for maybe including pic. Grace, which pic? with my niece or without? again i dont want to look too incredibly desperate. Or maybe I should ask her if she would like me to send her a pic???

I'd send both pics and I would not ask if she wants you to send them. Put yourself out there so she can see you are person and not just some electronic mail. ;)

so what do you think about me adding this to the end of what i already wrote?
"And I'm not sure if this seems weird, but I know it's hard to personalize things on the internet so I am sending you 2 photos of myself, one is me, and one is me holding my precious niece Allie. "
or should i rephrase it?? I am trying to be as human and upfront as possible, not trying to sound overly professional but more personable.

Tell me honestly, if you placed an ad for childcare, would YOU hire me based on my information alone and not based on what you already knwo about me?

I would just send the first note you wrote and the pictures. I wouldn't keep going on and on. What you have sounds fine. The pic of you with your niece helps her to see you with 'her kids'.

From what I read above... you did perfect. If you don't get the job, then it didn't have anything to do with what you did...

But don't sweat it, you'll be getting a call from her soon.. :)

SCORE! Well the email and the pic apparently were good ideas! Here is the response I got from her this morning!:

I deffinetly would like to set up a time to meet with you. We are not in our apartment yet, much to our dissmay. So it would be at least two weeks before you would be able to start. I am having to put them in daycare for the time being. It really sucks cause I hate daycares. So fare I really like everything that you have sent me and you seem like a very sweet person. Can you wait two weeks?
