not for a holiday/vacation... to work on getting my security badge...the process at a minimum is at least three hours.( I thought it would be longer) to get to the airport I am getting a ride from my wife. We tallied the costs of all transportation costs and (this was before I was aware that a discount was going to be given by American Express and the airport) and the cheapest would be by subway/rail and that would be by buying a monthly pass that costs $100 (on a re-loadable card)the testing for the badge is done every three months...

That's how most people in my area travel to their jobs in NYC. Rail is by far the easiest. If you get the monthly discount it isn't terribly expensive and you avoid the headache of driving in the city and parking, which is impossible btw.
