recently i've seen a bit of ridicule towards coventry city coming from certain un-named members, well as the old saying goes 'he who laughs last laughs longest

in all my years of following football i've seen the ups and downs of any clubs,i've seen united and villa become european champions then get relegated a few years later,i've seen liverpool rule europe for nearly 2 decades,i've seen everton ,blackburn and leeds become league champions,i've seen forest become league and european champions.remember how big sheffield wednesday were?...i even remember when chelsea were absolutely dire....theres a thread still running here in which the first post states that spurs are bottom of the league, look at them now

its swings and roundabouts

liverpool were top of the pile but look at them now,in dire need of a new stadium and a team that by premiership standards is second rate...they quite possibly wont ever recreate the glory days

united are still up there but their reign wont last forever, cracks are starting to show right now

chelsea considering the money spent are a joke, complete calamity...the cant even fill the bridge for a champions league semi final

and dont even get e started on the villa

everton and blackburn will probably have to wait a very long time for the glory days to return,as will leeds...and look where forest and sheff weds are now

the good times here will return in the future...we might not be winning leagues but we will be back in the top flight

and a message to all you glory fans who deserted us when united won the league,or chelsea won the league or when liverpool won in europe.you all claimed that you've always liked these clubs, some even claim to be lifelong supporters of these clubs...its easy to forget all of those awaydays we had following 'our' team,or the season tickets you had in various parts of the stadium for home games

well when we make it back heres a thought,we dont want you back...stay where you are,we want a fan base like those of clubs like west ham, birmingham or newcastle...fans who would never desert their clubs or wear the colours of another club..we want loyalty to the club,no fickleness

the phoenix will rise from the ashes

I think it's all relative success. Like Chelsea for example, when they first got the cash injection in 2003 people thought they were gonig to dominate English football for years. The first year they didn't (mostly because Arsenal went all season unbeaten) but then they won two titles (the first with ease) and people took that as the sign. Without considering the fact that it isn't always good to have a load of Bentley's and Lamborghini's, sometimes you need something a little bit more efficient. As well as the fact that we won the next 3 Titles with a better squad, and Chelsea didn't even challenge for one of those seasons, consider that. They won it again but not the next season and probably won't even come close this year. So in fact they haven't dominated, in fact they've pretty much got worse year on year.

It was the same with Blackburn really, they had the big money in the 90's and signed Shearer. They got one Premier league Title out of it, and went down 4 years later.

Liverpool's problem is mainly that gradually their teams have been getting worse while others have been getting better. Consider that until Arsene Wenger came along, Arsenal didn't even challenge, but they got better and better. We earnt our success with the way we marketed the club (a club that ws nearly sold for £10m in 1989 - to a man who also claimed Carlisle United were going to be in the premeir League by the year 2000) here and overseas. People say we have spent a lot, and we have, but it's not as much as other teams who have been a lot less successful.

Teams like Everton and Blackburn are a very long way off because their teams aren't particularly good. Plus with the ownership situation at both clubs, especially Blackburn, it makes it more hard for those teams to get what they would term success.
