Why would you say that?

Because Huffington Post is biased.

Like politifact is unbiased.

Just like Huffington Post is unbiased.

This is an important issue to animal lovers. And it is no more sensationalized than any other political story of this nature. Thae FACT is that is did occurr - don't shoot the messenger for bringing the mail - which is exactly what politi-SLANT did.

Giving another perspective isn't shooting the messenger.

As I've said numerous times before, the only republican I will vote for is Ron Paul. I would never consider voting for any of the others.

But, that Mitt would do this to a pet - have it ride on the roof - windscreen or not - tells me a lot about his character. The roof is not for pets. Luggage is.

Or bratty kids ;)

I heard that Dubya used to blow up frogs w/fire crackers when he was young. If true, it certainly doesn't surprise me either. He seems the type. Heck, Barney didn't even like him. If your own dog isn't partial to you it says much too.

Because Huffington Post is biased.

So exactly what was inaccurate in Huffpo in this instance?

Don't you find it ironic that a conservative rag named "PolitiFact" editorialzes to such an extent?

But then, using the words "conservative" and "fact" in the same sentence is ironic in and of itself. ;)

He didn't hose the dog and crate down, he drove the car with the crate on it and the dog in it through a car wash.

Obtw, what news source these days isn't biased?

I'll say this, when ALL the msm was screaming we were 45 minutes away from a Mushroom Cloud, it was only those 'conspiracy sites' that were saying there weren't WMD's.

Who was right? *dons TinFoilHat*

I was pointing out that Huffington Post has its bias just as any other new source does. They aid in sensationalizing stories like this which have nothing to do with the issues and are purely used as cheap ammunition to be used in smear ads. Politifact and other online news sites are just as guilty.

Like I said in my previous post, I don't think it was smart to put the dog on top of the car. But, we weren't there, we don't know the situation. Maybe there was no room in the car, maybe they didn't want the dog getting sick in the car, maybe they couldn't find a kennel, who knows. I think this story is more about Romney's carelessness than revealing that he's a monster who enjoys hurting animals. There's two sides to the story, and the truth is most likely a mix of both extremes.

We are fucked, and we will remain so until we clean our political house, far to much corruption in Washington.

Fuck Romney. He has no regard for the lives of the people whose companies he destroyed so why would he care about a dog?

The more bad press this asshat gets the better. Maybe eventually people will wake up and follow the money. If a story of alleged animal abuse helps people wake up, so be it. Some folks have more empathy for animals than for humans because humans have choices that animals don't have. And Romney damned sure didn't care about the human lives he's ruined in the name of profits for the oligarchy.

I find it interesting that people will attack the source of a story that has proven to be true.

Romney was asked about this incident point blank and if it wasn't true, he would have said so instead of making excuses.

I am not attacking the story

Just making the observation that Lanny Davis is a hard core democrat so it is disingenuous of him to intimate he might have considered voting for Romney. Which is what he is doing in a round about way.

Romney will pay the price for this

I do question though how different this would be from shipping a dog on a plane.

I imagine the cargo area of a plane is not exactly a pleasant place to be with temps and noise. Yet I doubt many find it abhorrent to ship a dog on a plane.

Speaking for myself only, as I mentioned around the beginning of this thread, I would not ship my dog in the belly of a plane either. If I can't afford a seat for her, she's not going. But that's just me.

Are there size limitations though? I don't think his dog was a lap dog.

His was an Irish Setter I do believe.

I think you're only allowed to take lapdogs in the cabin. Gwen was 125lbs at her largest. Obviously too big. Hence why flying w/her wouldn't have been an option.

As I also said before, I bought first a wagon then an suv so that we'd have plenty of room for her in the back if we had to evacuate.

One either views their pets as family and treats them accordingly or they don't. He obviously didn't.

I had a midsize dog too big to fly in the seat. We moved to Japan and took her with us. She didn't enjoy it, but she likely wouldn't have enjoyed being abandoned again (she was a rescue) and having to get used to a new family. She didn't enjoy the return trip, either. It was a tough decision, and I can honestly say I'd be really torn if I had to make a similar decision again.

You did what you had to do. You had no choice. There is nothing wrong w/that. You certainly can't drive overseas. There are always exceptions. At least you were concerned w/her welfare :)
