To make a long story short this thing started off as an Acer w/Vista. The only thing left from the original build is the hard drive, two sticks of 1 gig RAM, the dvd and the box. Everything else has been replaced over the past year or so and I mean everything. So you axe why didn't you build a new one to which I answer. I dunno but it almost new now and will be by the end of the week. I'm keeping the box though. :D

Poop I'm gunna wait on the SSD. They are too bloody expensive for the storage size of the things. Once the price comes down I'll grab one.

Errrrrr...How did you even manage to get the RAM to work with the new mobo (Motherboard)? Would of thought that you have to match the mobo with the RAM?

Maybe I missed it somewhere and I am too lazy to look back through.
What motherboard do you have?
You want to get memory that takes full advantage of your chipset on the MOBO.

If you have the patience to order online, this would seem a bit better of a deal.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104072

Newegg has done well by me for many years.

I looked at that and decided by the time it hits my door it would end up costing $65.00 with tax and shipping. That's about 15 bucks a stick cheaper but if I have an issue with it Best Buy has a great return policy. Is it worth the extra $30. To me I think it is.

So far this is what I've done today...

- Installed 2 new sticks of 2gig Kingston DDR2 800mz memory. I'm probably going to add 1 more after I install some software and see what resources I have left while they are running.

- Installed a new H/D. WD Black 1TB 3.5 7200 64mb dual processor. I'll get a SS one when the prices come down.

- Fresh install of Windows7 64 bit. I hate it with a passion but I know I'll get used to it after I start a new thread and get some answers to some basic shit I seem to be missing.

7 aint so bad once you get used to it.
Besides, nothing beats a clean install for boot speed.
WD drives have done pretty well by me. I have 2 1 TB green drives in my TV server that take a constant pounding and they have survived well for 2+ years now. (knock on wood)

Just ask if 7 has you befuzzled.;)

That remains to be seen. I'm almost at the stage of blowing it out and doing a clean install.

I agree.... especially when it's XP. :D

I've always had good luck with them as well and that's why I went for another one this time. I can't wait for the prices to come down on the SSD's though. I want one real bad.

Trust me I will but it's gunna be in it's own thread. Watch for it to follow shortly.
