Have You Ever Written Fan Fiction

I have not written a fan fiction yet but I got an idea to write a fan fiction based on a popular book from one of the most popular novelists in our country (also a politician, and a former PM). I have done a lot of research but haven't started writing yet. My plan is to write the second volume, pick the story from where it ended in the novel.

If I had writing skills I would have certainly tried it. Sometimes I feel that the story I am reading needs a better twist
