He wants to eliminate wealthy from being able to get credit for donations. Now only a liberal would miss the fact that if you take away the tax break the rich are not going to be donating. You think the uber rich athletes set up charitable foundations all because of altruism?? Sure some do but you can bet their financial advisers are telling em they can reduce their taxes while doing a good think. Eliminating the tax break is not gonna hurt the real rich. They just won't donate but the charities sure will take a hit.

Then apparently he wants to eliminate the mortage deduction for the rich. Wow, sounds like a great idea at a time when the housing industry is in shambles. Sure, why not fuck with it some more. Lets bring it to its knees. This penalizing the rich shit never works. They tried to over tax luxuries like boats and it killed boat sales until it was repealed.

Another thing is he wants to raise taxes on power plants. You thought your heating bills were bad well get ready for them to go up in spades. Ah but don't worry they say it will be phased in during 2011 and all will be better by then. Using the liberal logic where lower gas prices were a tax break according to Clinton back in the day then this means excpect a huge tax increase.

A hit on the charities would play right into his hands. He and his ilk believe that nothing but government can take care of the people properly. Forcing charities to come to Uncle Sam begging to stay alive ... what better proof that we need Obama and his ideas? Besides, if he saves the poor & homeless, and props up faith-based organizations to boot, he would steal a large part of the republican base.

Pushing the rich out of giving to charities is exactly what would serve him best.

I suspect that part of his budget will not be passed. I think even Rangel said it was a non starter.

Just the mere thought he considered it a good idea shows how out of touch this guy is with reality.

I am not so sure he wants to reduce charities. I think he probably really believes it is a way to get more money out of the rich in the way of taxes. I think the laws of unintended consequences get blinded by those who are so liberal.

That is not to say the conservatives do shit without blinders. But in this case seems pretty obvious what will happen were this to come to pass.
