Might want to check with the Russians on that.

All these countries, like the US are headed into deap shit once all the baby boomers are retired--right now its like 11 workers to 1 retiree--in 20 years its projected to be 3 to 1. What you liberals don't understand is socialism can only work when you have an ever expanding population like it was in the 50s through the 80s to support the non-working class. But the stupid socialistic policies will be coming home to roost.

Russians are communists, at least they were. I understand you prefer the every-man-for-hisself policy. :)
BTW, I never voiced support for socialism in the U.S. at least not until the robber barons are completely back in control. Then full circle, the people fighting trusts and monopolies with who knows what, maybe socialism. Capitalism only works when the system is in balance.

Proper spelling usually makes proper arguements stronger ><

Anyways, happiness is a state of mind. Also, even if it was possible to "rank" it, it would be totally dependant on census, time, economy, or even the season of the year.

Choose to be happy and you will be.

Isn't that a bit simplistic? Most times choosing to be happy requires some action on the persons part. Maybe you ment that.

Isn't that simplistic you ask ... Do you believe that the truth of things are really that complicated? I don't.

If people can't control their attitudes, their attitudes control them. Thus that is why the happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything.

Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different. Maybe you see it as complicated and yet I see the same thing as simple.

In life we have choices. They lead to either blessings or curses. (on ourselves and on to others)

I agree. You dont need a perfect life by any means to be happy. If you have people and places you love or care about, theyll always return happiness to you.

The truth of things can be incredibly complicated especially when considering your place in the universe. I also admit the traditional view of God/Heaven/Hell is very simplistic primarily to make it easy enough for most people to understand and feel comforted by. While it might be the truth, that does not mean it is the truth though.

And I don't imply that having the best of everything is required to be happy but some level of physical comfort is required. I'm saying that choosing to be happy requires more than a single choice to be happy and then magically you are happy. Most people seeking happiness include condition(s) or goals to be happy (what ever that might be), and subsequently action is required to achieve those goals. Although there might be someone out there who achieves happiness by simply sitting on their butts doing nothing. :) For most people, I see being happy as a combination of external goals and inner goals.

The land doesn't make you happy, its up to the person to be happy. There is no peace on earth, so there are no happiest places on earth, only moments. I am happy about 99% of the time, and i am not living in denmark.

Live in Africa. Then come back and say what you just said again.
We do missionary work in Africa. I watch people that have nothing (materialistically speaking) yet have everything. They have very little food, go to school with dirt floors and yet are so blessed by their inward joyful spirit. They are truly thankful and happy. People in rich areas of the world are so spoiled and take so much for granted, including myself. The people in Africa that I've had the pleasure to meet are true examples that joy comes from within. Beautiful, just beautiful, and what inspirations they are to others. It is so awe inspiring that we went to be a blessing to them, yet they were the ones that were the true blessings to us.

I don't care how much of a "joyful spirit" you have, if you live in a area where ethnic cleansing is commonplace, more than half of the population has AIDS/HIV, scores of people die each day from easily treatable sicknesses and so on, you're going to be effected from where you live.

Oh yes, I forgot, thank you. They all had AIDS as well, yet they were all much happier people than the people here in the US that have everything. Regardless what you do or don't care about, it doesn't change the fact of what I saw and experienced.

Understand I am not denying the things of this world that suck, I am saying that some people have the ability to be happy in the midst of adversity ... and others don't.

It's not quite a fair comparison because when existing on the edge of survival their happiness scale would be very different than ours, possibly as bad as aren't I happy to be alive for today; found a piece of bread today, now I'm not starving as much as I was yesterday.

BTW, I'm not making fun of anyone...
