I've already gone through this conversation on here once and I thought we'd just agreed to disagree. The fact is that in this country making the owning of fire arms illegal has worked. If someone would like to point out some viable stats why it hasn't then I'm all ears. In the meantime, Charlton Heston and his gun toteing cronies talking crap is not going to convince me of anything.

The UK is far less violent than the US. The US is just naturally a violent place with more crime. The reason why the gun ban "worked" in your country is because the UK has a far less crime rate than the US to begin with. I mean, lets face it. The UK doesn't have one city thats as bad as some US cities crime-wise.

If you look at the murder by gun stats compared to population, I'm sure you will find the USA one is higher than the UK one by quite a substantial amount.;)

How many people are likely to end up dead compared to people being shot? Our country is far from perfect but being shot is more deadly than being knifed.

Well, thats not entirely true. When you are shot, the shock of the round hitting you naturally makes your blood vessels close up from the trauma. When you are stabbed, the knife cuts through, leaving the blood vessels more open and prone to bleed out more.

But I get what you're saying. I plan on moving to Sweden when I have the means. America is going into the shitter.

You cannot line up 31 people and kill them one by one with a knife unless they are all really stupid....unlike a gun which happened. Don't move, the great thing about nationalism is that you can admit your faults and try to make your country better. I myself am trying to single handedly eradicate Chavs!;)

Stupid illegally obtained guns. If gun shop owners and manufacturers clamped down on this, then it wouldn't be that high of a percentage.

People blame manufacturers for the crimes, but some guy lookin to make money will sell a semi auto anything to anyone who walks through the doors for cash on the spot.
the biggest problem are the so called gun shows where you can get anything and all you want whithout any checks at all , one thing i will say is i'll never give up my guns not with the way things are going all over the world today, i feel better having them and not ever having to use them , verses not having them at a time when their needed to protect my family.

ummm NO ITS NOT i went with my fasha the other day and we just recently purchased a gun...its just real quick paper work we were in and out in a mtter of minutes, maybe not ten...but damn near close...no longer then a half hour!

Many states today have a manditory cooling off period of 72 hrs. Unless he's got a permit to carry or purchase, then ya gotta wait for 72 hrs.

Current state law in Florida requires a 72-hour wait only for handguns. In February 2001, Troy Truax attempted to purchase a shotgun from Manchester's Pawn and Gun in Citrus County, but left when told he would have to wait three days before being able to take possession of the gun. Truax then tried the A-OK Pawn & Gold pawnshop in the same county, whose owner was either unaware of or ignored the county ordinance. Truax walked out of the store with a shotgun and drove to his home, where he shot and killed his former girlfriend and himself. The gun seller was eventually charged for not observing the waiting period.

Brady Campaign - Why "Instant Checks" Are No Substitute for a Waiting Period for Handgun Purchases

The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act (Brady or Brady Law), in its original form, required a five-day waiting period and background check before completion of the sale of a handgun. Although the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on June 27, 1997 that background checks on handgun purchasers are no longer mandatory under federal law, the court left intact the five-day waiting period and the requirement that a "National Instant Criminal Background Check System" replace the waiting period in December 1998. At that time, all background checks will utilize a national, computerized database to screen handgun buyers.

Analysis
  • Implementation of the "instant check" will eliminate the benefits of the five-day waiting period. The waiting period serves as a valuable "cooling off" period; too many murders and suicides are completed within hours of a handgun purchase. In addition, many criminal records are not "instantaneously" accessible - the five-day waiting period gives law enforcement officials the time needed to complete an adequate background check.

Alley, go to this site

Then you can go state by state to see what the laws are for buying a gun.
SilentSinz from Arizona CAN purchase a gun without a waiting period.
WAITING PERIOD
Is there a waiting period on gun sales? No

Arizona: No state requirement that there be a waiting period for gun sales beyond the "instant check" in federal law. Police are not given any additional time to run a criminal background check to make sure the gun buyer is not prohibited from acquiring firearms. There is no "cooling off" period to help prevent crimes of passion.

There is no cooling off period there
