When I leave, I'm going to make bunches of posts complaining about how all of you suck and how I hate you all. Then I'm going to make another thread apologising for my behaviour, saying I was hurt that you all were ignoring me. Then I'll make another thread whining and bitching about everything.

It will be never ending.

In my opinion, those grand exits have the only intention to make the other users wave "Nooooooooo, doooon't leeeeaaaaave!!! We neeeeeeed YOU!!!"-flags. According to my experiences, the leaving users then suddenly decide to stay.

Exactly! If you wanted to go and couldn't stand another minute here, you'd just stop coming.


Wait. Sorry. I was equating common sense to the internet. Of course the obvious reaction here is to make a whiny, angry post about how goshdarn awful this place is and spend all the time you could be doing something else posting about how you're leaving, right now, right after you've replied to this one last slight on your character....

You will know I am gone when I quit posting. I never understood the making some great and dramatic exit. If you like a forum stay, contribute, enjoy others and build relationships. Not all forums are for everyone. If you get your feelings hurt that not every thread you start turns into a 5 page thread then the problem is not the forum. I carried the title "Thread Killer" on a previous message board because it seemed once I responded to any topic it died a sudden death. It even became a running joke as to which one of the three or four of us would kill the next hot topic.

I've seen a few normal "I'll be gone for a bit to take care of things, don't worry I'm not dying" threads, never a bitchy whiny one... On here at least. I made one and didn't think it was whiny :dunno

On another forum I posted on there were TONS of the "SOME people on here don't like my presence so I'm going to slam the door and stomp my feet on my way out" threads.
