Ahhhhh.... Java Java.....Good..

sorry, way back long time ago those nights killed me.

I have spent most of my career on the night shift. It has worked well as a working mom and avoiding childcare expenses. Initially, it is what most new grads get to start with. I remember in my younger years, working 11P-7A, getting off work and driving 1 hour to the lake to ski all day...off the lake by 5, in bed by 6:30 and back to work at 11 only to turn around and do it all over again. Crazy days! I worked M-F and being single, many weekends, I kept the night shift schedule. Late night partying was a cinch.

With 12 hour shifts, it can be more tiring. Especially if you have a crazy schedule where you work one off one work two that kind of crap but I work all three in a row. I actually have more time with family than I would if I worked dayshift. I might not get that much sleep but it is only for 2 days and then I have 4 days off. Usually I am in bed 9a-10a and up by 3p-4p...leave for work at 6:15.

On dayshift with 12 hours, I was always completely used up by the time I came through the door at 8p or later...Up at 5am and running til I got home. 3 full days of that . Not much quality time with family at all. Sat and Sun mornings, I am greeted at the door by my sweet husband with a great big hug and kiss and usually he makes me a good brkfst and tucks me in. In 3 days we will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary.
