Knowing the muscles would be kind of useless, considering the area swollen indicates a ligament injury, if not bone. The pain is located on my Medial Collateral Ligament. Serious damage to which is generally only caused with a direct blow to the opposite side of the knee. Since I never had a direct blow to the knee, and the fact that I can still walk, proves that it isn't torn, so a doctor can't do anything about it anyways.

I took an athletic trainer class. The only reason why this is bothering me is that I don't recall an injury so the pain for the mechanism of injury doesn't make any sense.

Do you have an athletic staff at your high school? If so ask one of the coaches to get someone to look at your knee. If nothing else try some Ibuprofen and ice.
