What? Did he morph into Jerry Falwell?:24:

People that are more concerned about the ills of Gay Marriage and Abortion instead of our sold-out, corrupted politicians who are selling us down the river right in front of our eyes are what are ruining our country by continuing to be manipulated by these career-politicians into giving them their votes.

i'll admit that i like glenn beck and some of his views i agree with, i bought and read "Common Sense".....i liked it, i bought and read " An Inconveiniant Book"....i liked that one also,...and i will probably buy and read "Argueing with Idiots".

I like Glenn Beck becuase i find his views on politics are amusing and entertaining......i listen to his radio show in the mornings becuase it makes me laugh......is he a wingnut...oh shit yeah. but i dig that:thumbup:thumbup

i dont believe in god....i believe in Cod, a belief in a higher power is neccesary for some as a guide of what is good and bad, right and wrong. from what i gather he is basically saying that its political correctness running amuck and a lack of morality that is cuasing a breakdown in society not athiests or athieism directly.

I've read some of his stuff and he's got some good ideas. The "libertarianism as a religious experience" thing takes him off the deep end more than I like though...

Religion and politics... If he ever gets kicked out of broadcasting, he seems to know his second calling. Amen, brothers and sis-ters!

It's quite saddening to see that most of the prime-time cable news commentators with little more than a secondary education, and political views based on flawed facts and logic, can actually grow to wield so much influence and power over people.

Come on, could we get some real experts hosting a show for once?

all i can say is....ive read his books....well most of them, and most of the information in them makes a good bit of sense, and as i said...i find him entertaining

he lists his resources and referance material...so its not like hes pulling it out of his ass.....i just think he has a tendancy to go overboard sometimes......ok more than sometimes......but just about all of them do at some point or another

i find it difficult for anyone to form their own clear and concise opinion on somone unless they themselves have done the research and read up on the individual...

just my far from humble opinion

That's a shame. Cause he didn't blame atheists, he just noted that God as an idea is being brought down to Earthly proportions; where it can be sliced and diced ever so easier.

I'm an American atheist, and I absolutely see where this man is comming from, even though I personally think he's a goof-ball.

But that's just one of the perks of not being a cunt.

I won't edit what I just said, but I am enough of a hypocrite to say that the profane language was not directed at anyone in particular. Seriously.

Who really cares what Glenn Beck thinks? Change the channel, that's how you fix it. What bothers me the most, is how much stock people put into highly paid opinion mills, rather than thinking for themselves.

looks like someone knows what one problem is with this country. i wonder if others will catch on to this?

i dont like pundits, glenn beck is a pundit. i'm not sure how we became a country driven by the opinions of people who have made a career of telling us what they think/what they want us to think.

they're no different from the news channels they're on, they edit and omit and tell you what they want you to know/what they think you should know and then try to package it all up using sound bites (usually 10 seconds or less) that most of the time tend to be taken out of context to try and push some point THEY have.

i use to think this was harmless but over the years seeing people on the internet naming this pundit and that pundit and spouting off what that pundit has to say without once thinking and speaking for themselves, i've come to see pundits are a problem.

whats worse are the people who use the words of one pundit or another to smear what they think is "the opposition" like somehow we're all supposed to be mortal enemies and the only way to solve our differences is by being petty, towing the party line and convincing ourselves how wrong the other person is.

but what do you expect from a society that cheers for the fights on jerry springer? civility? fat chance of that.

And if somebody disagrees with you resort to the time honoured tradition of character assassination. :(

Please clarify, whose character he assassinated in the above post you replied and referred to? If it is Glen Beck, he has no character. :)

You misunderstand. I am not criticizing Pabst's post. I am agreeing with the bolded passage. I am saying that it is commonplace amongst Americans to use character assassination to discredit the person, rather than what the person is saying. If one hasn't the ability, or lacks the facts, to refute a viewpoint it is a simpler matter to discredit the person. I know. It's been tried on me. I have a very low opinion of people that resort to such methods.

Religions were doing so well when they used to be able to kill the people that didn't go to church. Now they have to let them live & even go shopping in the same malls, its abhorent.
